No can do, they're made but no official specs or release papers from them. Only small group knows about them including us now and Dave.

They look exactly the same

Highly doubt that would work since it specifically says it's for socket 771. They look identical from the top to the heatsinks most of us are using, but it probably doesn't have the little step to compensate for socket M sitting a few MM lower than typical 771.

Yeah, that's what I thought since technically they're SUPPOSED to be compatible, but the TPS for the SE7520BB2D2 only mentions PCI-X 100/133 MHz and when I plugged in my SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit it was only producing static. I've used the CA106 chip on previous linux builds and I know it works so I was a little surprised to have the problem, unless maybe my card has gone defective, which is possible since I didn't have any other PCI cards handy to test in the slot.


The USB sound card I've got right now is working well for now anyway, so I'm not overly worried, though more USB ports would be a welcome addition to my Sossaman daily driver.

Specs were actually listed on intel website via datasheets. They have been removed.

I know it's only been like 30 seconds since you talked to your friend about this, but do remember to update us when there's something to update about!

Even just the jump from 2.0 GHz to 2.33 GHz would be great. Of course, 64-bit would be MIND-BLOWING.

Or, at the very least, help from Intel on OC'ing these chips to 2.4 GHz.
So, to sum up...
we want m0ar speed!

personally - I'd take a hit in mhz just to have 64bit support

There was a listing on ebay a couple days back of a X6DLP-EG2 with (according to the listing) two 1.4GHz CPUs. Did anyone here win that item (listed by maven technologies or something like that). I'm just curious as to what chips actually shipped on that board. Anyone?

These guys seem to have a few Sossaman systems that they've been selling off one at a time for a while now. Usually they go for 75USD + shipping, so I'd wait or send a message to maven_technologies and see when they'll have more in stock.

- K8N-DRE-2GBL-PB $19
- 2 AMD Opteron 270 Dual-Core 2GHz CPU Processor S-940 + $40

how do memory prices of ECC DDR compare to ECC DDR2? and what i'm really interested in is total power consumption and point output, but it looks like this platform will lose to sossaman? according to wikipedia, each apteron 270 chip sucks up 95w? that's nearly triple what the intel chip needs.

Too much power comsumption 2-3x and much slower than dual sossaman (2.4GHz Q600 would be equal).
