One way to get around a possible phiscal limit of a board may be to use a dedicated IDE or sata controller card but don't take that as set in stone.

but Im really curious now, how do these tests with the conditions needed to show these high HTT(no mobo drivers/sb) pertains to everyday settings? or the data being collected? wouldnt using settups like this skew the results where as if everyone just tried with theiir 24/7 setup it would give more useful results?
