You scared me a bit with those early problems so I cancelled my UD7 order but I hope they can fix it soon with a bios update or that you can find out rapidly some stable settings.

Wow really? that sucks. I was runnin 12gb at 6-6-6-20-1 & 7-7-7--21-1 on the classified. VTT is at 1.4, tried 1.5. I'll try your B2B suggestions too & see what happens. I wont be removing ram though. If it wont OC with 12gb, this board is comin out. Classified is stable at 1900+ cl7 and 1600ish with cl6 & 12gb. I need some water though to bring my temps down.... then my 24/7 would change to 4400 or higher. Can do 4400 now with the EVGA but temps are a little high for me. Oh and another thing, i cant get uncore anywhere near what i was runnin with the classy. 4000-4200 was fairly easy, even with 12gb. now im at 3500. I'm not giving up on it yet.... So far though it's just not lookin as good as what i had. Off to try more suggestions, B2B then B2B (back 2 bed...)![]()

Ok i tried b2b at 4 and am just now getting back to desktop. I'm at stock settings now. For some reason, even after clearing cmos, no OC works. No post, then OC failed screen, no matter what settings. Also now only 8gb of ram are usable. Post screen shows 8gb and windows shows 12 installed 8 usable. remind me to not touch the b2b settings again lol.

reverted back to f2 bios, still only 8gb of ram and only posts at default settings. looks like i may have 2 bad sticks of ram now. i guess i will be removing ram........

Another thing about this board...For me, USB keyboard (G19) works 40% of the time to get in to bios. i have 2 have ps2 keyboard to get in bios or even install windows...most of the time. Sometimes the G19 will work. Worked 100% of time on the EVGA.

Ive used a lot of Gig boards, and on everyone of the if you use a USB keyboard, it has to be in a certain port or it wont work in BIOS. Usually the one right above the PS2 port if they have them there.
As for the B2B, what is the default? Minimum is 3, 5 works best for me on my EVGA board.
I would just try the 6gb of ram, at stock and test with Linx using all ram to make sure they are still working. Then try to get your max stable OC, and start adding ram back.
Also, every Gig board Ive used has required a hard CMOS reset to reset the CMOS after a bad setup. Put a jumper on the pins and leave it for a couple hours with the battery pulled.

Are you guys dissabling C1E, VT, and all that junk?
Heatware Cecil
yeah except vt and bidirectional prochot, but i don't think that's the problem though
Been running memtest for the past few hours. all 6 sticks pass memtest 4.00 looped on test 7. 3-sticks @1750 for an hour, then replaced with the other 3 for an hour. Still nothing now with all 6 installed. the default b2b in bios was set to auto.. which shows "-" in bios. Cpu tweaker shows b2b as disabled. Thats strange youve had so much trouble with bad setup with giga boards, i've never had to pull the battery for hours, with any gigabyte i've owned.

Same issue? 12gb wont work, only shows as 8? 6gb works fine? Also there is an f3a or b bios out. have you tried that one? Was yours working fine then all of a sudden stopped like mine? looks like the Classy is goin back in and this one is headin for RMA.... From what i'm seeing, this new Gigabyte isnt lookin to hot......

6gb works fine, i haven't tested it with more ram, mine just doesn't work from the start, tried messing with multiplier or voltage and it doesn't post at all, just showing power button and ddr phase led, and i haven't test F3A, still waiting for BIOS from gigabyte rep from my country, i don't know what BIOS he'll give to me.
Man, lucky you still keep your classifieds, i just sold my RIIE and i don't have spare![]()
clear c-mos first and follow the step....
1: set cpu multiplier to 21
2: set blck to 200
3: set uncore speed to 3200mhz
4: set qpi speed to 7200mhz
5: set memory performance to standard
6: set timings to: 8 8 8 24 2T
7: set to disabled all energy saver (intel speed step, c1e, etc)
8: set v-core to 1.2750v
9: set v-qpi to 1.34v
10: set v-dram to 1.64v
11: enable load line calibration
12: connect all optical devices (blueray etc) to sata2 port named gigabyte sata2
after you can thight timings and others...

Wow this thread's exploded even more, I'm still on weekly reminders :-)
I was planning to use this board as the basis for a bare-metal VMM.
I will still get it but the purchase has been delayed in favour of some other tech projects.
I should have it within 6mth though, wish I could buy now, looks so sweet!
I will still occasionally follow the new thread with interest...
Enjoy everyone!
wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Now I have my new X58A-UD7

so is there any word if this board is just the first in a series of X58 refreshes from Gigabyte? will there be any updates to existing X58 boards such as the GA-EX58-UD3R?
What that Gigabyte rep told me is holding true about the January release (except for the UD7). The UD5 and UD3R will probably be here right after New Year's.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-422-_-Product
The X58A-UD5 is being sold on Newegg now for $289.00. I am disappointed that Gigabyte dropped the number of phases to 12 for the non-watercooled version when it was to be designed initially with 24. The main reason I waited for the UD5 was to save at least $50 and get the same features without the passive heat pipe and watercooling.
It's going to be a hard decision for me. I want to overclock as much as possible on air cooling but do not know how much of an advantage the UD7 would have with its doubling of phases.
Yeah I also thought the UD5 refresh was going to have 24 power phases as I originally heard. Oh well, glad I got the UD7 instead, no big deal.
Also, Gigabyte has launched a GA-X58A-UD3R as well:
