I believe the only difference is the E761 comes bundled with the EVGA Control panel, which is a little PCB that has switches for turning the board on/off, jumpers for disabling PCIe slots, and buttons for tweaking the voltages. among other things (it's basically like a little OC station). If you really wanted to, you could always buy one for a E760.

Ok guys, I just ordered this board and I expect this board to arrive in 2 weeks (Wish it would have arrived sooner) and I heard the Northbridge runs quite hot on this board, is this true? How hot does it run anyway?

The temp is arround 45-50 when I`m at BIOS, but I dont know how high it goes, because there is no software detecting this temp(or I dont know). Everest and eleet are not showing ...

Here's an updated version of the BIOS for the E759 Classified for those that want to try it...AFAIK these are the changes (cumulative with changes in S22A)...

***Please note that this BIOS is strictly and only for the E759 Classified board***

    1. Adds support for 2TB partitions.
    2. Adds new S3 states to allow S3 at high BCLK values. The newly added ranges are (set clock to down-clock needed for S3) 150 to 133, 170 to 150, 190 to 170, 210 to 190, 210+ to 210.
    3. Adds ability to Enable/Disable HPET and run it in 32-bit and 64-bit modes.
    4. Changes boot sequence, from poll clockgen > poll qpi ratio to poll qpi ratio > poll clockgen (should allow for higher BCLK boot).

    Download here > http://www.filefactory.com/file/a1efdf4/n/IX58S22D.bin

Please note that this is a FileFactory link so you have to select the free basic download option from the page that opens.

Edit: Now officially released by EVGA too They were quick this time haha

    E759 - ftp://ftp.evga.com/bios/E759S22D.bin
    E760/1/9 - ftp://ftp.evga.com/bios/E760S61J.bin

Hi all. I've been reading the thread for a while, really intresting. Got my E760 some days ago, and been testing after burn in. Is it good a 191*21 on 1.223v? and 201*21 on 1.282v on a i7 920 batch 391X?
Can anyone tell me if is there any fix for the .5 blck read (cpu-z, eleet, etc)?
I'll post some screens later with dram at 2005 8-9-8-24-88 1.6 bios voltage set (gskill trident 2000 9-9-9) blck 201*21 (4210 read). Any advices to improve memory results are welcome, and so are the RTL possible settings.
By the way I have to use +150Vtt for memory at 1900, and +200Vtt for memory at 2000.
    Regards. sorry my english.

Hi! guys i need some tips, trying to find my max benchable speed on air, 920 D0 on Megahalems and E760 (bios S61B).

Bclk seems to be my biggest problem as it can't go higher than 219 without pushing 1.5v vtt... so far with 1.55v i can do Spi 2M @ 223*21, but afraid to push above 1.55... also room temp is very high..

Is it normal to need a lot of vtt volts for higher bclk?

    Here's my current test config

    Code:

CPU Clock Ratio (20X + turbo)
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ( 223 ) *boot@216 then up with eleet

Only one way to find out. Drop your vtt to +50 at 200bclk or so and if you loose stability then probably... but I've read that high vtt can cause instability if I'm not mistaken but what do I know I'm a newbie overclocker...

Ok thanks i've tested it and high vtt is really a must for me at these clocks.

I've bumped most of the ioh/ich voltages quite a bit and managed to bench 224*21... raising vtt to 1.57 helps stability there but not enough to do even 1M at 225... and vcore beyond 1.51v doesnt seem to help... idle temps around 66° maybe it's my limit for air

I wonder how does vdimm voltage affect bclk... gotta play with that and pcie too...

I thought that the limit according to intel was 1.35v (maybe slightly higher under water) for vtt . I would seriously back down your overclock. Have you factored in ambient temps? Also did you say it idles at around 66? OMG whats your load temps at? 95? And your air cooling?!

I thought at first you were doing all this under water! But I'm no overclocking expert but that seems dangerous. You have no headroom for warmer weather. Not only that its well know that too many volts kill. Thats how the Anandtech guys killed their $1000 dollar processor. Too much vtt!

    Good luck!

It`s all accorting to the CPU. My CPU cant pass 225 bclk when all cores enabled and HT, but disabling 2 cores and HT, and I`m able to reach 240bclk. Also I`m under water and tested at 5 ambient same result the CPU is bclk limitted.

davidm71 i'm trying for max benchable on air so temps are gonna be high of course.. and whats the point to this board if you dont push things to the limit, at least once in a while

Did some further testing today and noticed IOH vcore raises NB temps like crazy, 67° in bios idle, even with 2 ultra-kaze fans blowing directly at it... but what really impressed was the effect of room temp in stability, in the cool early morning i could lower vtt a bit and still bench some pi, but when the day got hotter it was impossible at the same settings...

(Sorry if all this is well known, i'm new to this board )

@TinTin my qpi pll is already at 1.45v, not sure if any more is good... disabling cores doesnt seem to help in my case btw

As long as your not going for 24/7 operation while folding. Not only that you should have that under a waterblock for the settings your at. For benching best of luck finding your highest CPU-z validation and vantage scores...

Hi, Guys I think my E760 just died yesterday .
From the moment I start it to the end when I shut it down its only showing post code FF. I tried reseting the CMOS with jumpers and battery, it was about 2-3 hours with no battery and its not working again FF and thats it. The speaker on the board is not working too so I cant hear any sounds. I`m trying without CPU, memory and card, only the 24 pin and 8pin for the CPU, I guess its not a problem, cause if everything is ok it has to show a diffrent code for missing CPU, memory or I dont know. This happened when i changed the memory it doesnt want to start so I powered off and removed 2 of the sticks leaving only 1 which usually helps but it doesnt want to start again then I removed one of the cards, then tried without video card, without memory nothing..
I think i`ve tried everything any ideas or shoud I RMA it? The RMA is not recommended because i already RMA 2 DFI boards half year ago in the firm where i bought it and a 3rd one wont be welcome.
So I`ll appreciate any ideas thx.

Hello. Im new here, but i have read that pushing that bios "chip" hardly while u are starting ur pc, would maybe help with that FF code. Worth of try, atleast

Maybe i should post some results here when i put my single stage on my classified Max BCLK on air was 246 with eleet, trying to go 250+!

What voltages is needed to achieves high BCLK besides playing with cpu vcore and VTT.
    thx

IOH, QPI PLL, IOH PLL and CPU PLL (recommended undervolting both to 1.5V), sometimes ICH a notch or two.
