Nice result, lets see the C3 . You still using a MA790FXT-UD5P? What were the temps?

Is that true of c3's as well? Or did you mean for a c2 to achieve 4056/2500nb at that?

Mine wouldn't crack 4 ghz with the water in my sig using ~22C air, although I gave it 1.55v at that temp. Later, during my duel with Lastviking, I gave it 1.632 with air at 5C trying for 4144 (loved your plank, btw ).

Does that make mine a good candidate for extreme cooling? (charged said this in another thread, but I don't really have access to more than outside air at this point).

Forecast is warm here for the next week Otherwise I might try another run above 4 gig but with higher nb and mem.

Happy Thanksgiving to my neighbours to the south!

I'm using MSI atm namely becasue I want to see how strong this second board I got is. Temp's no clue, I just pushed chip till it failed to scale anymore.

PSU could be a limiting factor atm, using an FSP group 850 watt as my box of PSU's I shipped from MI is MIA atm.

Seems to be trailing my board I prepped for ln2 with a really strong PWM so I guess I made the right choice as far as a cold board between the 2.

I might swap out a few boards just to see if it yields any diff on the same chip.

It seemed weak compared to my other GD70 which has run prime at 4.2g quite a few times....on a side note I find it surprising it nuked with a 125w chip, maybe my prior run with the 140w pushed it over the edge. Hopefully I can get an RMA as this is just my board I use for air / water reviews.

It seems miracles never cease to happen.......the CPU is still fine. Think thats the first gd70 I have seen not take out a chip. Can't find the source of the problem as well.....the mosfets did not let go on this board nor are there any burn marks visible but I surely saw a spark right when it powered down. Board was being actively cooled so I urge you MSI guys to take it easy trying to keep up with the pack in this thread.

I had to reinstall windows so i haven'd had much time with the new cpu yet but playing around with the tweaker function revealed my new C3 can do 1M at default 1.375V.

Prime rebooted within a minute though.

Yeah, my MSI GD-70 died about the same way (maybe a little higher voltage). I was benching the 550 unlocked at the time and I also was lucky because the 550 survived.

That makes me a bit nervous. Though, I've pushed some pretty high volts for what cooling I have and everything has been a-ok.

It was a few degrees cooler outside today which allow for a higher over clock but I still couldn’t get the C3 to complete prime @4.3GHz. I did improve the score in cinebench though. MY C3 overclocks higher in the 64-bit OS than the C2 version.

You guys are tearing it up! Fantastic results!

chew* ain't that a bit much Vcore for a C3 cpu? Still awesome though. My condolences on your board, i know what it's like, i recently lost my golden Rampage Extreme.

This weekend i will see where my system will land.
