    Hi Folks,

I know I've been kind of quiet lately, just haven't had any killer results to report...

I see the Vcore some of you folks are running and my chip just doesn't seem to like anything much higher than 1.5v, believe me, I'VE TRIED.

I've been on my "Ugly Water" the last few days and have never seen temps over 50c, so I'm pretty sure it's not a temp problem.
It's not all a bad thing, this chip will do 4Ghz easy (@1.475) which makes it a killer air chip but I was hoping for a little more with water and voltage...

    I'm certainly NOT complaining!
I'll play with the IMC a little more tonight, maybe that will help me get more on the core without adding v's....

I did notice my Mobo NB and PWM section getting REALLY hot since I went to water, so I added an Antec "Spot Cool" over the PWM heatsink tonight.

I'd really like to get 4.1/2.7 stable. I think it's doable...

If I get it I'll post some screenies.

BTW: I'm doing this on ambient w/water, I got tired of shivering (hehe).

I fried my 940 @ 1.42 a few nights ago, so be careful what you ask for my friend.

These parts are relatively low leakage and efficient. So they are working well on H20 & agressive air and are showing nice scaling in the 35C to -20C range and beyond. I am suprised by the (relative) consistency and goodness of the results. They are not particularly voltage tollerant without substantially decreasing temperature. Phenom II scales like none before with cold, but I offer some perspective, we can (sometimes) get to 1.8V at -260C. So between 50C/1.35V and -260C/1.8V you've got a voltage tollerance line, more or less, and certainly always on the edge of failure.

People seem to think the Crosshair has an edge driving core frequency. Also, I think big radiators and airflow help. But you already know this.

My results are great!... I'm somewhat of a wimp compared to some folks on here. I've been playing with Phenoms since the 9500's...
It seems like they've always had a temp limit of ~53c, and every chip has had it's own personality.... But hey you have to push it a little...
To my credit, I haven't popped one yet (Mobo's are a different story)...

I'm probably not really extreme enough for this site, but I hear ya Simon...
I don't really push too hard, I look for stability first and work up to max clocks slowly. This chip still ROCKS...

I really want to play with exteme cold, but I don't have a POT or a TEC and leaving the window open when it's 32f outside just ain't working for me...

    Viking:

At 4144, I could get about 10 minutes in. I suspect that a little more cold would have done the trick.

Check out loc.o's post in the c3 results thread. There's an extremely cold, fast 0942fpmw

    Daveburt:

I can relate to the "shivering" remark.
    1. Light woodstove
    2. Close office door
    3. Open window
    4. Place PC on the edge
    5. Put on extra clothing
    6. Keep hands in pockets, to retain ability to operate mouse

    64NOMIS:

I should add that there's a fine line between being bold/aggressive, and stupidity. I probably crossed it, and just got lucky that I didn't fry my chip! At least I have my 550 to fall back on, and the latest 790xt-ud4p bios would let me disable that pesky weak core. (I didn't want those grapes anyway )

What I'd like is 4 ghz and a bit and high nb for day to day use, without freezing or having to wear earplugs That, and fast graphics too!

Thanks for encouraging us to push the envelope.

I’m still hoping for some cooler temps but until then I guess I may as well keep benching with the ones Mother Nature is dealing.
