You can and can not get 4 Ghz stable? It all depends on FSB and GLT voltage, that’s all
My old P35 board was great with Q6600, it did 480 x 8 with no problems for 24/7, so board was good for 480 fsb, but with 45nm Quad id did only 450, no more. Asus P5K-E have really bad settings for GLT voltage (only 4 settings), so there is no chance to get something good, with Giga P45 UD3R/UDRP it is different story
At first posts I could not get 4 Ghz ok, but after some time of testing and tweaking BIOS I went to 4.2+ Ghz that max Linx ok. After all I can say that GLT voltage is the key for high fsb and also FSB voltage. Even high vcore is not needed as it was with 65nm quads.
