What a cool shot! I'd frame it and call it, "Still Life with Slot Covers"

Congrats Miller on a completely badass rig!!! You should be proud! I am proud for you, and we live in the same state! (lookout kingpin)
Thanks for the paint offer. I will not be disassembling anytime soon though so, maybe for the next build!!!
Anyway, I'm glad it turned out so nice, Miller! The res and your WB are my favorite parts.![]()

Nice paint work there Miller.

Glad to hear everything is working well. Haven't seen much of you these last couple of days - I'm guessing you must be busy studying ... MW2, that is!

Thinking of getting a Lynnfield i7. I was waiting for the Bloomfields to go to 32nm before I dropped the trusty ol C2D, but it looks like that won't happen. It also looks like Lynnfield won't be going to 32nm either (just the dual-core versions with on-package graphics). Since lynnfield performs better than low end bloomfields Im going to go with that.
I always wanted to cool the MOSFETs in my next watercooled rig, but I hear that the MOSFETs on these P55 boards don't even get warm? If that's the case putting them in a loop would make them hotter.
What are you thoughts and experiences with this?
Also, on your board there is an extra 4-pin molex plug for extra power. I noticed you aren't using it. When do you need to plug in extra power?
I have been wondering that too. Unfortunately EVGA doesn't include any info on that Molex plug. They include a bunch of newbie instructions and warning stickers, but no info for things like that Molex plug. I can only guess it is for running SLI and Physx setups.
The Mosfets do get a little warm. I'm showing 40 idle and I think I have seen them get over 50 when under load. The P55 chips stays nice and cool though. I'm showing 27 at idle right now and I don't recall it going above 40 at load. I see no reason to put it under water. The Mosfets might not be a bad idea, but they still aren't bad.

Yeah, Southbridges don't get hot. Surprised the SB didn't absorbed onto the processor die yet. One thing at a time, I guess.

LOL, well absorbing the SB would have probably put them over their power budget. Need smaller transistors to add more parts and stay within power budgets.
I just hate that to buy any of the new 32nm Nehalem based parts you'll have to either shell out $1500+ (Gulftown) or have graphics on package, even if you don't want em. What a waste.![]()
Hey miller, take a look here! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=239692
They say the T3 may crack... Just be aware man!
Peace
