    Back again

Tested new beta 195.39 and no issues at install but high OC leads to crash always, made me tough it was my VGA so i revised the vids mod and took the oportunity to bridge vid 12, the re installed 190.62 best drivers inmo

now i got as you napalm 1/2/3/4/11/12 reading 1,25+ if touching the middle pin of the ground of the PCIE connectors, reads different on the others

re tested and got this on

    Q9650@ 4500
    W7x64 GTX285 @ 800/1872/3024

thanks yeh its been modded over several times

alright! now you got step1 going all the way.. step2 is more picky than the bridging of step1.. pencil is not gonna work that well.. may work for a few minutes/hours/days and then the card wont boot or if it boots it wont run 3d etc.. step2 is best replaced and youll get a big boost from this mod

if you dont do step2 at least do step3 (close to ~1.30v) and do the ocp mod.. big boost

cmon sergio get more juice going thru

    good luck!

    i have a question mate

when measuring GPU volts touching different grounds on the PCIE connector give me 2 different volts, this happened on my 8800GTX /ultra and now on GTX285 with diff PSU...

this is what i get today @ LOAD (values a rounded) vid 1/2/3/4/11/12 bridged wich one to use as ground reference ?

Cheers and thanks for your whishes

I'm using 4 x 220uf 10v Tantalum caps on mine. The case size of the caps I used is 6mm in length.

You don't have to use 470uf - what can you get there?

    Hey Cryptik---

100uf 6V only chance, but is it a must vor the vgpu /ocp/ovp mod ? or it just helps...

The cap mod essentially has nothing to do with the OCP/vGPU mods. It's not required, just an extra something you can do that's all.

OK !! I just read EVERYTHING on this post ... ( damn its a long one ).

    1 : STOCK V can be raised to 1.26 without mod ?

2 : I flashed my card with 1.25v 725/1550/1400 and its working fine ( also fine tuned the FAN slope ).
Temps reach 71c with fan in the low 60 on AUTO while gaming or 3dmark06. Idling in the low 40 with fans 40%.
    How far you think i can go with 1.25 ( or 1.26v ) ?

sorry boulard you had to go thru it.. ive revised first post

yes step1 (mod involved) ~1.26v - though not all 285s are exactly the same voltage.. you may get only 1.23v.. if properly done step1 should at least get any 285 close to 1.26v.. my evga ftw 1gb ~1.3v from 1/2/3/4/11/12 bridged

100% fan (sorry i can only go by 100% fan) and 1.26vgpu should do ~756/1656/1458 even @ heavy loads

no problem sergio leave all 6 bridged.. you can try again @ ~1.26 after you remove the 285 for vmodding

if you still get 1.23 still leave all 6 bridged and go forth with the other vmods

    good luck!

guide to 1.39375vgpu max (reference voltage) past this voltage further vmods are needed.. crotale vgpu/ocp mods: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=220607

these steps + crotales vgpu/ocp mods: 1.67vgpu @ load reached on the ssc 285

before attempting any vmod please measure your current voltage/s

    measure points
    - red:vgpu/green:vmem
    - courtesy:CryptiK

    note: voltages/vmods @ evga ssc 285

    step #1
    - for better understanding please check dengyongs post #80 cryptiks post #112 and #118
    - simple way to increase vgpu from 1.15v reference
    - 1.26vgpu @ load (1.3vgpu on the evga ftw 285)

    step #2
    - vdiff mod
    - increases efficiency
    - the lower the resistance at this resistor the higher the vgpu allowed
    - best if resistor replaced with a 300-400ohm resistor
    - or try a 700ohm resistor in serial to the 700ohm resistor onboard
    - or pencil the resistor to bring resistance down to around 350ohm
    - 1.29-1.33vgpu @ load (1.36vgpu on the evga ftw 285)

    step #3
    - one more vgpu mod
    - increases voltage according to the resistance @ vdiff
    - solder a 150ohm resistor to ground from this red point
    - 1.36vgpu @ load (1.39vgpu on the evga ftw 285)

    ^ 2.20vmem @ load

these steps + crotales vgpu/ocp mods: 1.67vgpu @ load reached on the ssc 285

Well guys i finally do the mod...i want to thanks ma mate Cryptik for being there when i need on msn...and so to napalm for the help always

    much thanks guys

started to test and its working as a charm only thing i need to figure out is that if i pump shaders over 1836 with 810 core and mems on 3096 i get solid colours, i have tuned the OCP vr on 10k now and still vgpu didnt pass 1,35 load, just started to test so i dont want to give a lot of volts at first, temps on the VGA are awesome tested to 1,38Vgpu and does not go over 51C at full LOAD

    here's the mod

played cryis warhead on this settings for more than an hour W7x64

    and some 3DM06 test
    Q9650@ 4608 GTX285@ 810/1836/3024
    vgpu load 1,35 idle 1,15

    W7x64

Cheers guys will keep testing and will try to find some tantalum caps to solder as only here are 100uf/10V what do you think of those ?

Nice work Sergio (makes my GTX 285 more than blush), but do you sense any difference between let's say what it did with the first mod and what you are trying to achieve now ? I would agree for benching to push as hard as possible but for daily use it seems to get a bit out of hand... but that's for you to decide ofcourse... I just want to avoid you wasting a brilliant card...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Thanks mate

I was able to bench on that clocks before now i can play Crysis at those, wich makes a real difference, what is amazing are temps, for now i will leave it on that vgpu and keep testing. Also for daily use remember the card goes to stupid clocks at 1,14~ idle wich seats at 36C to 38C i don't think this could damage it. But agree that i wont leave it at hard vgpu for 24/7.

Also i made a mistake on my first mod i was reading bad getting 1,22+ and i did what Crytpik and napalm told me and use molex ground and with all bridged i was getting 1,25vgpu, so thats why basically going for 1,35 makes my bench clocks play on crysis wich i consider the most demading games...on others i can play even at 1872 shader now.

    Cheers leeg

i see youve done crotales vgpu/ocp mods only.. no faith whatsoever in napalm huh sergio? lol thats ok no problem

solid colors: bring resistance down to 10ohm @ ocp (dont worry it wont waste your 285) so its not in the way anylonger.. increase vgpu to ~1.4 @ 810/1872.. if still solid colors then try 810/1872/2970-3024

last resort.. take it above 1.4vgpu
