1.3v+ sounds about right for a C0 @ 4GHz. There are examples that need even more than that. Linx will create higher load temps than any other program will in my experience.

I've been "anti F10 beta" bioses for UD3P, coz they make 2.40B mem mutli go nuts.. wth I thought last night, I really want more CPU MHz, not mem mhz...so, flashed to F10f, to test cpu oc with mem, fsb x 2

4230MHz / 1128MHz mem was with F9 BIOS, this is abs max with 1.381vcore BIOS, 1.344v cpuz

    currently testing (2 hr L4D online play) 4302MHz/956Mhz, 1.393v BIOS, 1.36v cpuz

Ive lapped the TRUE Black.....they probably made it concave in factory?...

I've also lapped the Q9650, this didnt do more than 1C maybe...HSF did most...still dont regret lapping both.

Well turns out it needs more than 1.4V to be stable @4.0Ghz, it appears to be normal as I compare to others. Definitely not a good chip but as long as I can hit 4.0Ghz stable then I'll be happy. Btw you guys have any suggestion for doing higher multi lower FSB or the other way around would be better?
So far I tried both 12x334 and 10x400 and I don't see any differences.

What fsb u use try like 9x450. with a lower multi and higher FSB your ram Can reach higher speed at a 1:1 Divider so your ram could be at 1GHz 1:1 Divider its a lot faster on the same timings then like 800MHz. Second if the FSB is higher your northbridge can handle more data. Try highering the PLL till 1.6 your safe i guess whats your northbridge voltage make it like 1.35 thats what i need for 500FSB stable. third your VTT Whats your VTT Voltage you can try highering that to i never gone above 1.35 thats my safe limit for 24/7.

O and about my Q9550 its Prime 95 Stable and LINX :+ i realy got a damm good chip idle with Vdrop in windows on stock it gets to 0.988 Volts!

Now 4Ghz at 24/7 rock stable!

    and some benchis

    temps at Linx not more,than 80C,at Prime95 not more,than 65C.
    Rampage Extreme is great mobo!

rurik - Good work. On my Rampage Extreme I could get Linx max mem stable at 467 - 480 FSB rather easily too, however Prime Large FFT's was very hard by comparison.

Can you post a Large FFT screen (at least 2 hours)? I'd be interested to see if you can get it stable at those settings.

    Q9650@4.05GHz

Unfortunately, I can only do OC to my CPU from middle of October till middle of May due to higher ambient temps on Summer time.

    I live in Portugal.

Nowadays, ambient temp is roundly 20ºC, which allows me to do some OC.

So, here are my OC settings that I set in BIOS (version F8):

    MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
    Robust Graphics Booster : Turbo
    CPU Clock Ratio : 9
CPU Host Clock Control : Enabled
    CPU Host Frequency(Mhz) : 450
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) : 105
    C.I.A.2 : Disabled
    Performance Enhance : Standard
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) : 2.40B
    Memory Frequency(Mhz) : 1080
    DRAM Timing Selectable : Manual

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time : 5
    DRAM RAS# to CAS# : 5
    DRAM RAS# Precharge : 5
    Precharge Delay(tRAS) : 15

    Advanced Timing Control
ACT to ACT Delay(tRRD) : Auto
Rank Write to READ Delay : Auto
Write To Precharge Delay : Auto
Refresh to ACT Delay : 65
Read To Precharge Delay : Auto
    tRD : Auto
    tRD Phase Adjustment : Auto
    Command to #CS Timing: 2T

    Clock Driving and Skew Control
    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control : 700 mV
CPU Clock Skew Control : Normal
(G)MCH Clock Skew Control : Normal

    System Voltage Control : Manual
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control : +0.40V
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control : Normal
    FSB OverVoltage Control : +0.2V
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control : +0.175V
MCH Reference Voltage Control : Normal
DDR Reference Voltage Control : Normal
DDR Termination Voltage Control : Normal
    CPU GTLREF1 Voltage* : -3,0%
    CPU GTLREF2 Voltage* : -3,0%
    Loadline Calibration: Enable
    CPU Voltage Control : 1.41875V
    Normal CPU Vcore : 1.225V

    Advanced Bios Features
    CPU Multi-Threading : n/a
Limit CPUID Max to 3: Disabled
    No-Execute Memory Protect: Disabled
    CPU Enhanced Halt(CIE): Disabled
    CPU Thermal Monitor 2: Enabled
    CPU EIST Function: Disabled
    Virtualization Technology: Disabled

    ***

My idle temps on CPU cores are as follows:

I can run Prime95 25.11 stably with the above BIOS settings with the following temps:

The problem is that I cannot lower my CPU vcore below 1.41875V, because my rig becomes unstable in P95, and with this CPU vcore, my CPU core temps are too much higher.

    I know it's a dilemma!!!

So I need your suggestions to help me to fine my BIOS settings.

I'd like to keep my OC @ 4.05GHz with lower temps on cores and also lowering my CPU vcore!!!

    Cheers!!!

That is a lot of vcore for 4GHz, no wonder your temps are so high. Perhaps raise CPU Clock Driving Control to 800 - 900mV, it may help. Wait for someone who owns a UD3P to help you though, as I can only make general suggestions. I'd also suggest going back to say 3.6GHz, finding the minimums required for all voltages, and working your way up from there.

Cryptik he got a DQ6 with no LLC not an UD3P maybe the one that can help him is OC nub that has one but P45.

    Thanks, m8

    I'll try 3.6Ghz as u suggest!!!

Other question: To test my OC's, I use P95, running Blend test for 8 hours, which I think is too much time to try the different settings in BIOS!!!

What other progs could I use to test my OC's???

Or what methods in P95 can I use to test???

Wow, these CPU's seem to overclock almost as good as an E8600 but with 2 extra cores! Shame they won't do any ground shattering FSB in a X48 chipset based board.

On the P45 DQ6 I needed to set the advanced clock control to 1000/1000/0/0 to get stable above 4ghz on good vcore. Different chipset so may not work for the x38.

Have been taking a break from overclocking and PC stuff for a couple weeks. Will get back into it soon I hope, a lot going on at home.

anyone clocked this q9650 cpu on a p35t-dq6 motherboard with 8gb ram (all 4 sticks populated), wondering if p35 chipset is going to be limited to 400mhz fsb.

Back to priming again. Sorry for the absence guys. I was getting comfortable at 4500mhz. Now I need more speed.

I'm at 506x9 (4555mhz) but temps are getting a little high. I'm peaking at 67c on prime blend. Cpu v in bios is 1.4 too (1.36v cpuz).

I'm running a cpu only mcr320/hk3.0 loop too, with high speed panaflo fans on it @ 12v. Maybe time for a rad upgrade???

I'll post screens when I get it stabilized.

sorry to post my q9550 result here but seems this thread is more active

is my voltages ok for this speed or I can lower some and this settings will be safe for 24/7?

Very nice clock, 67*C under Prime large FFT load is getting up there but it's not too bad considering the VID of your chip and the vcore you're running. It's not like temps get up that high though under normal usage though right?

If there's some better rads available though maybe give one a go.

Nice run Hoss. I have to catch up now. What are your temps doing at that speed? I see you're running almost exactly the same stuff I am.

Here's last night's prime blend. I opened the window in the room the system is in. Pittsburgh winter is on it's way.

And not that that questions was directed at me, but my advanced clocks are 900, 900, 0, 50...
