Why so it is a lot of?
I have G.Skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ 2x2Gb, for super pi I got 1100 mhz (550 fsb), 1140-1150 Mhz this max for that ram.
Whether is kit 2x2 Gb which can 1200mhz?

With the bios I tested ( before 16xx series) it was far easier to stabilise a quad with high FSB when you don't use the 1:1 divider. Most user when using 1:1, top at +470ish FSB. If I was you I wouldn't waste anymore money on S775 by bying a new mobo (unless you sell the E8400 bundled with it)... just pop in the quad and you "should" get 4GHz action...

If 500FSB is really what ya need I can recommend the Giga P45 UD3P... but they are getting hard to find, as Gigabyte is fully going P55...

Hi, im planning to learn watercooling on my rig based on a p5q deluxe.
    E8400 + 4gb Gskill 8800
It all will end up in an obsidian 800d.

Now i wonder if a Swiftech Apogee XT would fit on the mobo? And is there any waterblocks for the chipset on this mobo (not sure if i need them though)?
Im planning to buy wc stuff @ chilledpc.

Is the modded bios good for watercooled oc?

    Thanx in a advance

I've been using the Swiftech Apogee GTZ (LGA775) Waterblock for some time on my rig so I would be confident the XT will also fit comfortably.

The Apogee XT is optimized for Intel® Core™ i5 and Core i7 processors though, although the back plate is currently not available. The socket 775 motherboard back-plate is not included with the block, but will be mailed upon request at no charge.

Unless you're thinking of going to i5 or i7 soon why not save yourself the hassle and get the GTZ?

    tried :D

Hi Lee, after I heard what u said about 500fsb that I shouldn't try 500fsb unless I have ram that can do 1200fsb, I changed my approach to increasing the fsb instead of just increasing the multi to hit 4.5ghz. I have to say that increasing little by little is A LOT easier than changing multi from x8 to x9

Now Im closer to my goal but I don't think my ram can handle higher fsb :O

    This setting is stable.

I changed the fsb strap to 333 like you said and it helped. I also changed Row Refresh Cycle Time to 60 to stablize my ram(does this setting make my ram slower? I really don't know what RRCT does but I know that if I lower it, my ram becomes more stable.) I also tweaked CPU and NB skews. I also realized that Ai Clock Twister doesn't effect my ram's performance, so I changed it from strong to light.

My ram is ocz platinum http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227298

Do you think I can go higher and drop my vCore? I see all these guys here who are getting 4.5ghz+ with 1.3 and I have E0 too! this makes me sad and I have the latest revision of p5q-e(A03) and latest official bios 2001. Haven't tried ket's bios but what do you think I should do to get that low vCore like others?

Also do I have to change CPU PLL at all? I find that it has absolutely no effect on stability or performance.

I only increase PLL when getting near 600FSB ad beyond... I suppose you are on a dual core Deaffob... that rule of thumb of the ram on a divider was for quad core action on this board... 540 Stable is already nice

Normally there should be a big loss in bandwith goign from Clock Twister Strong to Light ( I'm testing 625FSB on the REX , if I put moderate bandwith is near 7800Mb/s in Memtest, if i drop to Light it's only 7.4Mb/s
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

So do you have any suggestion that how i can lower my vCore? i wanna get something like 4.5ghz with 1.35 like many others on this forum :O oh btw I checked my memory bandwidth with everest and it didn't show any difference. So what Im trying to ultimately achieve is to be stable at 560fsb so with x8 multi i'll be reaching 4.5ghz.

This is a duplicate post from the q9450 thread, but I think it might actually be more applicable here and since I didn't manage to get too much advice over there, I thought it might be OK if I posted my same question here:

hey guys... been messing around with my q9450 and trying to get it up to 4.0 ghz with no success. I'm sitting at 3.74 now and I'd love to see the big 4.0 past post (that's as far as I've gotten so far). Here's my settings for the 2 speeds that I've been trying:

    3.74 (stable-ish):
    CPU Ratio: Auto
    FSB Freq: 466
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: Auto

    CPU Voltage: 1.30
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.32
    DRAM Voltage: 2.06
    NB Voltage: 1.3

    Everything else on Auto.

    4.02 (post only):
    CPU Ratio: Auto
    FSB Freq: 500
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: Auto

    CPU Voltage: 1.33
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.34
    DRAM Voltage: 2.06
    NB Voltage: 1.34

    Everything else on Auto.

any ideas of what else i need to change in order to hit 4.02? I'm using a P5Q-Deluxe (sig), i think its bios 1406.

If you don't have issues now, do not upgrade... it could be you can't use ya current clocks anymore...

Up Vcore to 1.4 ( and back down later), if you already need &.3 to be stable at 3.7 , you will need more than 1.33 to obtain 4Ghz with 500FSB, FSB Term to 1.4 too ( back down later) Leave GTL's on AUTO...

What does ya rig do ? BSOD when loading windows ?

Plz list ya complete bios setting and ya full hardware specs, voltages ain't enough...

    couple questions for you all.
    1. should i worry about a bios update on this board when i get it? or should i just leave it alone and install my Q9550 and other parts and start it up?

    2. is this board a ATI board?
looking at the specs for this board i stumbled onto this here

"ATI CrossFireX Technology ~ Exceptional 3D Experience"
does that mean i cant use my Nvidia GPU?
im not doing crossfire or anything like that just single card.
    PNY 8800GTS

    3. should i OC it first thing or wait until i have it up and running at stock settings?

    1. I would suggest you to upgrade to at least 1403

    2. It means that it supports ATI Crossfire. You can use any card out there. But it won't support SLI, only Crossfire.

    3. Depending on your OC experience but I suggest you start from the stock and go up step by step. That is if you want to OC.

You can enable SLI on the P5Q series if you use the hacked driver... works 95% fine on my Rampage Extreme... 4ghz should be doable, 4.2 might be pushing it, unless you get yaself good rams...

No matter what I do, I can't lower my vCore than 1.4 after 4.3ghz My cpu is E8400 E0. Is this normal or did I damage the chip?

    Very kewl.

Except sadly, other than looking damn sexy, it seems to be pretty beta, no, more like alpha stage.

    Horribly broken.

Hi all, scanning through all these post have been great for info and research time cutting.

WOuld you say the following voltages would be safe for 24/7 use?

    I have q6600 G0 + P5Q-Dlx : FSB 465 x 8

    vPLL : 1.56v
    vFSB : 1.4v
    vNB : 1.42v
    vNB(GTL) : 0.630x
    vCPU0/2 : 0.675x
    vCPU1/3 : 0.675x

Any ideas on the clock skews? I cant seem to get my blend prime stable. . its even IntelburnTest Maximum with 3102Mb RAM tested stable, but no blend testing. . freezes after about 4.5 hours.

    Thanks

Try CPU/NB skews of 100/200 then 300 then 400. I found that delaying the NB up to 300ps more than the CPU helped at around the same fsb. It was all about finding the most stable 'gap' between the 2 values, then moving them up and down together until you find your sweet spot. Good luck getting it stable - I had a lot of problems at those fsb on my q6600.

Can anyone tell me what to do with this mobo for god's sake !

There are tons of settings like GTL, FSB term. etc. but I don't know how to use them. (I've been researching for 1 week but still can't understand exactly.)

    Here is the situation;

I have a Q9650 running at 4.05ghz @ 1.25V without any problem, prime95 can run for hours and hours and hours in small fft mode but when I try large fft or blend mode, it crashes in ~1 hour max. So I thought this should be a mobo problem instead of CPU.

    My settings are;

    CPU Ratio: 9
    FSB: 450
    DDR freq. : 901mhz (underclocked) @ 5-5-5-15 & rest is auto
    CPU Voltage: 1.2500
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): 0.635
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): 0.675
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.52
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.32
    DRAM Voltage: 2.10
    NB Voltage: 1.32
    NB GTL Reference: 0.660
    SBridge Voltage: 1.10
    PCIE SATA Voltage: 1.50

    all the skews are AUTO
    PL is AUTO

so now; which part am I doing wrong?

can your rams do 1081mhz TiesTorn ? use the rams at that speed then, set GTL's to AUTO and try again. Also it's better to list the whole bios settings...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

are there other settings ? I wrote all of them I think...

1081mhz is another story that I'll try it after stabilizing the nb..

I tried again with the same settings (only increased NB to 1.36V), it resisted 2 hours and then BSOD. (btw wtf is this BSOD means now? I always ended up with calculation error but this is the first time it gave me BSOD.)

on the bright side, it resisted 2 hours instead of 1 LOL !

    so, any suggestions ?
