This rad is sooo coool
Does it mean that if you install fans on it, that 20mm fan space will still leave some gap between fans?
How are those Yate loon SM fans? loud at full speed? Should be better to use SL?

Yes, there is a gap.
I have not heard them yetI sleeved the PSU but don't have a tester or multimeter to check it. Hopefully I'll check it soon and decide whether to get another 4 to replace stock fans or not.
I think SM is little loud at full speed, but I am going to slow them down anyway - even 1100RPM is too much for me (my ears)

Didn't posted here anything for awhile, so lets fix it
First of all I've moved to another appartments and had to make some house repairs and to paint the walls.
So I felt like barista making beautifull picture in a cup of coffee
Back on topic. I've wanted to estimate noise level of future system and assembled almost all moving parts together. Fortunatelly Yates that I bought in PPCs are quite good and not very noisy at 900-1000rpm. Noiseblocker multiframe is barely audible even at 1200rpm
Why did they wrote Designed and Devoloped in Germany?
Compared to big brother
140mm brigade
random picture
BTW I've dremelled one more hole for GPU power and different cables such front panel USB, power button etc.
My real headache for now is where to powdercoat the case. I've emailed and called different companies here in Moscow and got nothing. Some of them do not have sandblasting, some work only with companies. I didn't thought it will be that hard to find powdercoating service hereHopefully I'll go through it.
Because of this I am stucked in the place and do not move anywhere further with the project.
But there are good news too
My order from Chilled is already on the way, I hope they done right what I have asked and it will turn out great
Also Duniek agreed to make one special part for me for reasonable price, hopefully you'll see it soon.
Thanks for reading![]()

Nice work man, the holes you made for cable management are a great idea.
I'm interested, are you not using your Thermochill gaskets?

Great work, keep on going
About sandblasting, are you painting the anodized parts of the case also?
If you only paint the aluminum parts you don't need to blast them
Powder coating need clean metal so the powder get fixed on the surface by static electricity.
The company I did my powder coating at are mostly doing jobs for other companies. When they did my case they where doingloads of other stuff in that color and they squeezed my case on the same rail. That's also why I got such a good price.
Think you need to talk to the right person, one who wants to make some extra cash for himself![]()

thanks, I'm trying to
I have a bunch of chromed parts, such as PCI slot brackets, MB tray holder, memory cooling so they should be sandblasted before coating.
I found one powdercoating company which have sandblaster, they have minimal price 100$ (it's fine for me) but their office is in suburban and they are not answering to my request for price estimate for nearly a week![]()

Sleeve job looks great, can we get a few pics of the PCI-E and 24pin?
thx, here is 24-pin few pages earlier. PCI-E powers are not ready yet, I doubted to do extender or not. Now I have a hole in mobo tray and it is evident that I need the extender, but I do not have 8-pin female connector![]()
probably I'll modify ATX 8-pin connector to make it.

Yea sanded and used some kind of alcohol to clean it. Important to get rid of any grease on the surface.
I used some regular primer for bare metal before the regular paint.
You can find a primer that are more suited to be used on bare aluminum and it will stick a bit better. But since the case will be used inside and not exposed to outdoor elements I think regular primer work fine.
The surface you get when powder coating is many times harder compared to a spray painted surface.

Spent all my time today preparing case for powdercoating, removed all plastic and rubber stuff, done one extremely stupid thing while drilling out the rivets, made couple of holes and tweaks to the case. In other words tryed to do as much as possible to not modify the case after it is painted to keep the coating in perfect condition.
Hopefully I'll post some pics that I made tomorrow in the morning.
Also found the company that ready to powdercoat my whole case and all parts only for $33Yes, I am going to beat millertime's $35 record "Cheapest case internals powdercoating"

I just need to find sandblasting somewhere to clean my chromed parts, I'll do it tomorrow too.
ah, package from chilledpc is somewhere on the way between Central Moscow sorting station (don't know how to call it in english - in russian it is Glavpochtamt) and my local post office. Something special inside
Cheers, Kirill.

So my report for yesterday.
First of all I need to drill out the rivets, I've decided to start with MB tray holder in the bottom.
Got some info about this in Winston's worklog, took the drill and started. Right from the beginning I noticed that rivets are pretty hard to drill but still, I continued. I spent 2 hours to drill out first 6 rivets in this holderDrill was just scratching head of a rivet instead of going into. I couldn't understand what the hell is going on and what metal this rivets are made of?! Titanium?
May be my drills lost their sharpness?
No.
I've tryed all my drills from 3 to 4mm, it's impossible to have all of them wastedI finished this 6 and my girlfriend called me for dinner. When I came back I realised than I ocasionally switched rotate direction of the drill
There is quite loose trigger near main big button. I finished remaining ~15 rivets in 40 minutes.
Next I removed brackets not allowing to normally fit Termochill here.
20 minutes and they are done. Started with handfile for third cut, finished with 180, 600 and 1200 grit sandpapers. Removed front ones only.
Finally I got this heap of case hardware waiting for powdercoating.

received mysterious package today
hmm, interesting, it's from chilled, let's look inside
and inside there is another package - not funny
outer shell removed, things are getting clearer, there is AS cleaning kit and strange red something, lets dig deeper
everything is removed out of the package, but wait... something is in the bottom
wow it is the Watercool box
looks like it has the Heatkiller Rev 3.0 inside, but it is of strange black&copper color, haven't seen such before
w00t! Heatkiller was kindly powdercoated by the Store, nice
Heatkiller brothers - really nice combo, right?
Here are the other things were in the package: AS Cleaning kit, MX-3 thermal compound, some black screws for fans (for case and rad mounting), one bitspower rotary adapter, 140 and 120mm fan grills, 3M thermal pads for GPU block. Red thing in the back is the hose cutter.
End of story, hope you like it![]()
