now things have changed.im seeing these crappy ads
all over now.im in the U.S and have a paid subscription
plus im signed in too,and im still having trouble with page sizes
and load times.whats going on?this is getting bad,these ads
really make it hard to enjoy the site like i did before.
this ad blocks stuff on the side.(and it talks)





EDIT-now im getting the ones that yell congratulations
and scares the hell out of me.please fix this

Yeah... I only see the Crucial and Gigabyte ads. No spam ads. A mishap indeed.

Yea, I just starting getting these Spam ads too. That lady saying you won scared the crap out of me too. I also got one of those that was covering up my PM box.

I understand the need for ads, but they shouldn't overwhelm you like these are.

Another LOUD COMPLAINT about the LOUD ads.
I understand ads are a part of the real world, I've even clicked on banner ads that interested me, but I detest the ones that yell at me.
They've gotta go. I'll go find another team to crunch for! :p

I've got no problem with the site having ads, understanding that most sites have them. But the site is slow, always waiting for the damn ad to load. Plus some cover part of the posts, and half of the templates are all messed up now. Can we please just get it working right?

I want to add something to that ever since I noticed these only to be described as spyware crap ads this site has been slow using firefox the page loads quickly but just the top logo everything else is gray I looked at the bottom of Firefox which shows what its loading what do you know its the damn adds, im logged in, At work we have a filter the page loads fine without adds but at home its a PITA.

As long as they are "quiet" adds, I don´t care, but that fkin one "You won" really pis*ed me..

And I agree, that HW/SW related adds has some meaning here.. rest doesn´t.. anyway I simply ignore adds, no matter where or in what form they are..

I was happy to live with just seeing Corsair ads, but starting today I'm seeing ads from a lot of those little scam sites. Worse, they have audio and that's just plain annoying.

TBH if that doesn't stop really quick I think we might just see a large drop in visitors. I know I am getting really annoyed clicking around and hearing about all the new things I've won.*


*No, I don't want to get plugins to make the ads go away. It solves the problem for me, but the only way to make it really go away is to watch it and be vocal. Having the site start to die because people who can't turn off the ads (or are just visiting and shouldn't have to) doesn't help anyone.

Corsair, Crucial, Gigabyte, etc... all those are OK (as long as they aren't too intrusive, like the adjusted one on the side seems to keep throwing the forum spacing all wonky). But if it isn't PC related, and is some of this other crap, it really needs to go

Guys, I understand your frustration. I also think non-tech related adds have to go.
I also understand the importance of ads.
But as a short term solution... come on, help yourselves! Not every site is going to remove ads for you on demand!
Get FireFox, get AdBlock plus add-on, and you will see no ads, none, zero! And pages will also load quicker.



I also use NoScript add-on, but doubt it is necessary for XS, it is generally very helpful, though.

That's right, and I don't contribute money to every site I go to either. Perhaps I was being naive when I thought that would help keep XS free and clean, I certainly would have hoped that once I log on the ads would stop. Like many others I understand advertising pays for a lot but non tech stuff on XS ??? The audio killing me and also slows page loading. So let me make sure I understand this correctly ... you are suggesting that I have to get ad-ons to improve my surf for that very same site I paid money for and would be better off if I turn my audio off also? It really is a shame ... makes me sad to see this.
