For some reason I absolutely cannot get my FSB or whatever its called on these boards over 180 Mhz.
Currently I have 1.275v on both the CPU and QPI, default on IOH, 1.6v on the ram.
CPU is running at 3780 Mhz, ram at 1440 Mhz, which I know is not stable at 1600 due to having 6 sticks.
When I try to increase the motherboard to 185 Mhz with 1.3v on the CPU and QPI volts, plus 1.18v on the IOH, it BSODs within 5 minutes of a quad orthos stress test of each CPU core.
Hi guys, I've been following this thread for over a month now. This is what I've finally tested.
3.6Ghz, Ram at 1800 CAS9:
3.8Ghz, Ram at 1600 CAS8 Currently my 24/7 settings. Still trying to get the CAS down to 7.

Hey Guys I got a question. How come it takes longer to boot with 19x200 (QPI Link: 3600, Uncore: 3400) than my 20x180 (QPI Link: 3240, Uncore: 3600) setting above? Evertime I turn on my PC i get the beep boot right away with 20x180 (QPI Link: 3240, Uncore: 3600), but it takes around 5-7secs for it to boot with 19x200 (QPI Link: 3600, Uncore: 3400).
Is that normal? If not What should I adjust to get rid of that slow boot?
Thanks in advance!

Is anyone here using the EK mobo blocks on their UD5's?
I would like to see pics of how people have their loops setup, as I am planning on buying these blocks for my upcoming custom loop.
hey blunt why the name change?

Could someone please help me sort out what bios to use on the ex58 extreme board ? Still on the F4J bios. Any significant improvments on later versions ?
Would really appriciate it.

I am kinda lazy so i never tried, i am just running X8 with a 191 BLCK. I just tightened the timings down to 7-7-7-20
I think my problem arises from my QPI Clock Ratio and Uncore Clock Ratio. Someone correct me if i am wrong here but i since i run a 16x uncore i have to run a 8x memory multiplier.
If i got any higher then 16 uncore i don't boot.

It could be a problem for you but not a general rule.

So this is a weird situation.. I just got this EX58-UD5 board.. fresh i7 920, d0 stepping. Flashed it to F9e and took to overclocking it. No matter what I tried, it would fail Linx within 10 minutes, or OCCT within 5-15. Only time it didn't fail was if I set Small Data sets in OCCT, meaning it was only stressing the CPU.
Flashed it back to F7 since I suspected the new bios was the issue. Tried 150x20 (x21 with Turbo) and all of a sudden it passed OCCT's auto 1 hour. Tried 191x20 with Turbo to hit 4 Ghz and it also passed the 1 hour!
Got all excited, left it on for a longer test but it failed.
Settings are: Vcore 1.3, QPI/VTT: 1.275, DRAM: 1.66 with rest on Auto
Tried setting the others to 1.14, with 1.5 PCIe and and ICH I/O. Tried CPU PLL, 1.3, 1.8, 1.84..doesn't seem to make any difference. If I turn vcore or VTT up, it fails faster!
Turned off Hyperthreading, temps dropped from 80C at max load to ~70C.. still failed all the same.
Now running with again, Vcore 1.3, QPI/VTT at 1.275 and DRAM at 1.66. Running 6GB of OCZ Reaper 1866, at 8-8-8-28 2T timings and ran memtest on them, they passed fine so I don't think it's the ram.
QPI set at 36x, Uncore tried 16x and 17x doesn't seem to make a difference, Memory is at 8x. Options are set at everything enabled except for C3/C6/C7 State Support.
So, should I be happy with my 1 hour of OCCT passing with all 8 threads going full blast. It should be 24/7 stable, considering I'm never going to stress the system that much, right?
Any suggestions on what to try? Small Data Sets seem to be handled fine, I only ran into issues with Medium Data Sets, so I think the Vcore/CPU is doing fine, and it's the board or memory that's holding it back.

Ok, seems that my problem...that I posted above ^^^ is ok now. It boots quicker.

Okay, found the problem I think.. ran MemTest overnight, it reported errors. Will have to RMA the ram. Any suggestion on a good replacement?
I got one of the mods to change my name as this is the name I use on the majority of forums I use, so it makes it easier for me!!!
So is there actually anyone here using these blocks then??
I'd really like to see pics of peoples rigs that are using them, as I want to see how they have their loops laid out, the thing that I am concerned about is whether I am going to be able to use a compression fitting on the port nearest the ICH10, as it looks although it lines up with the GPU when it is in the first PCIE slot, but I have only seen pics of the mobo outside a case with the blocks on, with no cards in it, so I am not to sure..
I guess even if it is close to the GPU, I can just use a rotary 45 fitting in there.
Would still like to see some pics though!!
good to know.and nice to meet you DavyBoy.![]()

I am also interested in hearing if there are any newer BIOSes worth moving to. I'm on F5 right now and would like to move to a newer version for the new version of AHCI, but don't want to lose anything on the OC side. Any suggestions/thoughts?

Guys, I plan to run the max of 3.8Ghz for everyday use cause of the weather where I'm located. Which would be faster? Lower multi and higher BCLK? Or 19x200?
Thanks

xzulu - I have the same GSkill Trident C9 kit you do. They have Elpida BBSE IC's and they do DDR3-1600 6-7-6-20 1T easily on 1.535v
Yeah, I just installed the EK kit on a UD5. I wasn't going to go with the Mosfets originally, but went with the flow.Although I'm not sure going watercooled was the greatest idea - using a template from this thread I was getting 180 BCLK fine with the stock cooling and Intel stock heatsink, but with the whole thing EK watercooled I can't set it over 165 BCLK no matter what I try, it just won't boot. I'd love to know what I've screwed up by putting the cooling on...
I'm forced to try now for minimum voltage rather than max speed, which is OK, but...
The loop works fine for me with standard tubing, no fancy couplings. I'll try to post some pics later for you.
@zalbard
Ok, thanks! Will do some testing this weekend. Cheers!
@CryptiK
Hey dude! How's it going?
I can seem to make them even boot at CAS7-7-7-18 at the setting I have posted above. Well, I'll try them out at DDR3-1600 6-7-6-20 1T on 1.535v this weekend. Hopefully it will work out fine.
Nice to see you that you're still active! Cheers!

I just couldn't wait...LOL!! I tried running them at DDR3-1600 6-7-6-20 1T on 1.535v no go....QPI/VTT at 1.30v, vDimm at 1.56v....
By the way I tried running it before I go to bed at a lower multiplier and higher BCLK...18x212 DDR3-1700.... Here's what I got....will do more testing maybe tomorrow....
