If i ever see a big jump on temps its that the block was not seated well or some other trouble...of course just my opinion

Either way mate you should be proud of your rig does awesome

Thats really all I was hoping to see is a 1 or 2C improvement and I would have been happy. Ive tried it at higher ambient temps with higher voltages, reset it several times with 2 different pastes and still havent seen a difference. I even pulled my 220 rad out of the loop once and ran it with just the 320 in to see if it responded to less restriction but ended up gaining 2C. Oh well.

    yes i understand mate

when i first bouth my water cooler system ppl where telling me that my rad was crap...and ended scoring the same as thermochills etc...maybe some 2 to 3C...wich makes no dif for me

one thing i noticed is that the hughe block of my GTX285 a danger den BFG its not restrictive at all, use to have more temps when i runt the MCW60R and of course the 8800 ultra where heating 10C more

would be nice to chill water a bit and avoid condensation, just a bit would be awesome

    Cheers

Had another cool night so I decided to do some more tweaking on my 4500/1250 blend clock, room ambient was 21C.

Very nice, great chip/board/ram combo you have there. 1.344v for 4.5 GHz is awesome.

I just grabbed a QX9650 for cheap and I'm wondering besides the unlock/locked multi is there any difference between the QX9650 and Q9650? And what VTT you guys would recommend for this chip since I heard it's not safe to run 24/7 with more than 1.4V VTT?

Most qx9650s are older stepping where the Q9650 are G0.

my bad. Anyways my point is as a Qx9650 owner it's better to have the Q9650 instead.

Since when the Q9550 is better than the QX9650? I still need to swap the CPU cooler tomorrow and see how far I can go with this chip this weekend. First run @4.0Ghz @1.25V ain't bad don't you think?

not bad but not great. i'm running 4.2ghz @ 1.288 and I don't have as good as a chip as a lot of others in this thread. i'm sure you'll hit 4.2-4.4, just with a lot of extra voltage.

and as for the qx vs q, i would def agree the Q's are a much better choice, even if you did only pay $200 for the Qx. the Q's have a much better track record for awesome oc's.

Just curious what's the max you guys can do with the Q9650? Regardless I still consider it's a good investment since I upgraded from a E8400 and paid only $100 for it after I sold my E8400.

For both. By the way I think I have trouble with temp for the QX9650, I'm using a TRUE with a CM R4 for push and Ultra Kaze 2kRPM for pull and my idle temp is around 42 for all cores. Considering I'm using a CM Centurion 5 so I might not have good air flow but I expect a lower temp than that, especially I switch from the Zalman CNPS9700 and the TRUE only gives me 1-2C better.

Wel since my Q9550 does 4.0GHz @ 1.216V ?? its just my mobo DFI Lanparty DK P45-T2RS+ that i cant run higher it doesnt like the half multi on high fsb.... but thats at 500FSB x 8 if i do 470 x 8.5 its like 1.18V so i liked a Q9650 now with its 9 Multi :P

And is that LinX or Prime95 stable? If so then it's a pretty darn great chip you got there. Just did a quick run and found out I need more than 1.3 to get it stable so yeh, it ain't that great but well, I'm still happy regardless. Just one thing concern is the temp, idle at 42 for all cores is that normal?
LinX stress it to 100% load and my temps rocket to 85-90 while with OCCT, same 100% load but my temps never reach above 70C.

42 does seem a little high for idle but what is your ambient temp? Is yours a C0 or C1?

    It's a C0, ambient temp is around 25C.

I reseat the heatsink and still same result, I guess it's just the way it is.
