The mobile i7's from Intel aren't in any direct competition with the AMD chips mentioned above. The 10W-20W difference in TDP means a lot in a notebook as far as size and weight. I would also be skeptical about how often a 55W laptop part like the 920XM could reach it's turbo boost speeds without having to throttle back down.
From the AnandTech review:
I can't find the MSRP for the Turion II Ultra's but considering the top desktop Regor is $76 I don't expect that the binning AMD has done for the mobile market drove the price up to the slowest i7 mobile, the 720QM, at $364.The new Clarksfield i7-920XM isn't substantially faster than the old Core 2 QX9300 when it comes to running highly threaded code. The problem is that when running highly threaded code, Clarksfield's Turbo modes aren't able to fully activate. We end up with a Core i7 running at 2.26 GHz compared to a Core 2 running at 2.53 GHz, and overall performance is relatively close.
