I got a new water block, HK 3.0, the other day so I figured I would do some priming to test it out. I was hoping to squeeze another degree or two out of my setup but so far its not looking to be any better than my GTZ.

    my LGA775 or LGA1366 setup.one will have
to go.cant afford to keep em both.so while
im waiting im going to fire up the i7920/UD5
again and see if it will grow on me(impress me)
enough to tempt me to keep it.right now with
UD3P and E8400 its fun but after playing with
quad cores and quad cores with 8 threads, duals
just seem weak in comparison.i mean even looking
at a cpuz screen and only seeing two temps its
starnge.it might all be in my head too
Congrats on finding a good chip, should perform well hopefully. You should be able to get 4.4 - 4.5 GHz stable on your i7 with your cpu too though. It's a hard call.

I feel the same way you do about i7 it seems. I haven't noticed anyone else mention it making them feel somewhat underwhelmed, I was thinking it must have just been me.

I'm torn between my LGA775 and LGA1366 systems too, can't decide.

Regardless of whether or not it's better than before, those temps are great.

glad to know im not the only one in the boat

CryptiK,im going to try again once i get the i7 rig setup.
i was having problems getting over 210x20,but after reading i
found out it might be easier to do 21x210-215 and go for 4500.

The temps with it are not bad, I was just hoping to see an improvement since its reportedly better, along with Gabe saying the GTZ is somewhat handicapped on a lapped cpu, which mine is. Its being used without a backplate right now but I dont think thats really hurting me.

hoss i honestly think that changing the block will only improve 1, 2 C, some reported lots more but i dont believe it, seems the same as lapping im runing shared loop with my GTX285 OC and some ppl runs single loop just for CPU on a quad on better rads and i didnt see much improvement...only thing i did see is chilled water...

If i ever see a big jump on temps its that the block was not seated well or some other trouble...of course just my opinion

Either way mate you should be proud of your rig does awesome

    Cheers

Thats really all I was hoping to see is a 1 or 2C improvement and I would have been happy. Ive tried it at higher ambient temps with higher voltages, reset it several times with 2 different pastes and still havent seen a difference. I even pulled my 220 rad out of the loop once and ran it with just the 320 in to see if it responded to less restriction but ended up gaining 2C. Oh well.

    yes i understand mate

when i first bouth my water cooler system ppl where telling me that my rad was crap...and ended scoring the same as thermochills etc...maybe some 2 to 3C...wich makes no dif for me

one thing i noticed is that the hughe block of my GTX285 a danger den BFG its not restrictive at all, use to have more temps when i runt the MCW60R and of course the 8800 ultra where heating 10C more

would be nice to chill water a bit and avoid condensation, just a bit would be awesome

    Cheers
