I want your template please. I want to see what you have your setting set to to get 4GHZ stable on this board. I have been having issue getting mine that high and my chip is a good one. Thank you ahead of time.

YOU will not regret it !!!
I got 2 of them & they both beat the pants off my QX9770 & my Q9450 ....

Hi guys, this thread has been looking dead for a while so why not liven' it up a little, here goes:

I've managed to get my Q9450 stable @ 3.2Ghz, this wasn't too difficult. But now I'm trying to get my 4GB OCZ 1600 Reapers to work at their stock speed. Before I managed to get the system stable by using 1300Mhz but now I've bumped this up to 1600Mhz which is the stock RAM speed for the OCZs that I have. Now where I'm having trouble is I can run 2 hours of OCCT completely stable, but 10min after the test the computer will freeze, sometimes I've been able to use it for 1.5hrs after the OCCT test and then it'll freeze, so I'm not sure which settings I would have to change to get the system more stable. Below are my settings which gets me through the OCCT stability test, also I've noticed that even though the computer will pass OCCT it refuses to pass Prime without errors. I always get an error around 10-15min into the test usually on Core 4, but I have had it give me errors on core 1 and 3 as well. So I'm a bit lost to what this is indicating. If anyone could suggest any changes to my bios to get the system more stable I'd really appreciate it thanks.

    CPU Ratio: 8.0
    FSB Strap: 333
    FSB Freq: 400
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: 1601
    DRAM Command rate: 2N
    Timings: 7-7-7-24 (stock timings)
    DRAM CLK Skew A: Norm
    DRAM CLK Skew B: Norm
    Dynamic Read & Write: Disabled
    Ai Clock twister: Auto
    Ai Transaction Booster: Auto
    CPU Voltage: 1.29375
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.54
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.30
    DRAM Voltage: 1.90 (stock voltage)
    NB Voltage: 1.45-1.47
    NB GTL frequency: 0.61
    SB Voltage: Auto

    LLC: Normal
    CPU SS: Disabled
    PCIE SS: Disabled

Anything I haven't listed will be in Auto. So if anyone could give me a helping hand to getting the system more stable (i.e. pass Prime error free for a few hours, or not freeze after OCCT 2 hr stability test) I would really appreciate it, thanks.

Got an issue with reaching same OC I have used for motnhs, before updating my BIOS today.

Ive been running Q9450 @ 3,2Ghz for 4 months with '1003' BIOS for Asus P5Q-E without any issues with the following settings:

    CPU Ratio: Auto
    FSB Strap: 333
    FSB Freq: 400
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: DDR2-801

    CPU Voltage: 1.2
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.630
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.670
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.52
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.12
    DRAM Voltage: 1.8
    NB Voltage: 1.12

    Everything else on Auto.

Today i had some crash which made it impossible to boot, totally unrelated to my OC though. Had to reset BIOS to fix it.
Anyway, since i had a default Bios I thought I might as well update my bios from 1003 to 1406 at the same time.

The issue is, Im nowhere near stable OC with same settings again. Im not even passing the Windows Screen. I tried to up the voltages a bit on vcore, NB, PLL, still crashing during windows load.
I got in with an FSB at 366 (havent tested for stability since I just got in though), but thats quite a difference compared to pre-update.
Can an updated BIOS really make that much of a difference? Any advice on which setting might be the culprit? Or if I should just downgrade to another version.

    Why didn't you upgrade to 1406 ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Sorry, that was my typo, doublecheked and its 1406.

    Edit:
Got into windows with FSB 380, but Prime failed after just 1 min. Seems quite bad :/
Temps are reasonable (e.g. more or less same as before).

What are your memory settings and what memory do you have? This is a normal occurence when updating a bios. Asus is well known for making changes to the memory tables to improve compatibility or overclocking. This of course completely throws off previous overclocks sometimes.

All memory settings were on Auto, havent OCed them at all, beside changing frequency to 801Mh in correspondence the FSB.
Got 2x2GB Mushkin Redline 1000Mhz RAM.
But since everything memory related were on AUTO I doubt it was a memory issue?

I downgraded the bios to 0803, and now everything runs fine again, with the old OC settings.

I should probably mention again I didnt keep the old OC settings in the BIOS during the upgrade, i just reapplied same numbers again after the update, so I dont think it could be because of some old values didnt transfer well over to the new version, but then again, I dont really know
Not like it matters when the old BIOS works, it just seems weird, especially when 1406 seems to be the best version of the BIOS yet, according to the folk in the Asus P5Q thread.

Still not able to keep the system OC'd

I posted my first few days of work on the Asus P5E3 thread, and I think its not getting as many reposts as it did months ago.

    Asus P5E3 Premium Wi-fi-AP w/ 0605 bios
    Intel Q9450
    CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1800 (PC3 14400)

areca ARC-1231ML-1G PCI Express SATA II Controller Card w 2x MTRON 7500 (Raid 0)
    GeForce GTX 280 HC16 Clear
ZALMAN ZM - Reserator1 V2 Water Cooling System

The problem is that when I boot up and start up CPU-z it shows a core speed of

    2700.3Mhz, 6x multiplier, Bus speed 450.0Mhz.

As soon as I actually run a program (super PI), it changes to

    3600.2Mhz, 8x multiplier, Bus speed 450.0Mhz

Any reason why the multiplier would go up/down dynamically based on load? I have speed stepping turned off in the bios.... So Im thinking I need more voltage on the NB, any ideas?

    Hello!

Could someone recommend me a motherboard for Q9450?
Preferably a board that needs only the FSB to be raised and the rest on auto
    The RAM I have is:
    4x of OCZ3P1600EB2G
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...eb_edition-eol

The board I have now is ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP @n but I'm gonna sell it!

I have been checking ASUS P5E3 Pro (x48 chipset)
But it seems no board wants to run this RAM with 4 sticks in 1600MHz.

Running a board with all of the memory sockets populated is generally hard to do. It is especially hard on the memory controller. If you are looking for an easy overclock I would stick with a P45 board.

    I already have a P45 board...

Has anyone been successful running all 4 memory slots with Q9450 and 1600FSB?

But maybe I should wait, does anyone know if any brand is gonna release 2x4GB sticks of DDR3 PC12800 ?

hey guys... been messing around with my q9450 and trying to get it up to 4.0 ghz with no success. I'm sitting at 3.74 now and I'd love to see the big 4.0 past post (that's as far as I've gotten so far). Here's my settings for the 2 speeds that I've been trying:

    3.74 (stable-ish):
    CPU Ratio: Auto
    FSB Freq: 466
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: Auto

    CPU Voltage: 1.30
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.32
    DRAM Voltage: 2.06
    NB Voltage: 1.3

    Everything else on Auto.

    4.02 (post only):
    CPU Ratio: Auto
    FSB Freq: 500
    PCIE Freq: 100
    DRAM Freq: Auto

    CPU Voltage: 1.33
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU GTL voltage: 0.635
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
    FSB Termination Voltage: 1.34
    DRAM Voltage: 2.06
    NB Voltage: 1.34

    Everything else on Auto.

any ideas of what else i need to change in order to hit 4.02? I'm using a P5Q-Deluxe (sig), i think its bios 1406.

Your results rock! I would try bumping up the NB volts a bit. 3.74GHz is the highest I ever got with my Q9450. Good luck!

thanks - i didn't think they were all that great, tbh. i'm a bit worried in stepping up the NB too much since its stock cooled (p5q deluxe) - any one think i should be concerned about that?

Depends on what your NB temps. Noctua makes a kick-butt chipset cooler. Thats what I used to run on my DFI board.

thanks, HWmonitor works fine... I'm going to up the NB and go for 4ghz. ideally, I want to get to 4.25ghz since that would = 17ghz overall (17 is my fav number, yes weird i know)

I have a problem with my eVGA 780i FTW mobo, q9450 processor and 4x2GB DDR2 800Mhz A-data RAM. I can't go pass 3 Ghz. Even with vCore 1.4 in BIOS. I raised the SPP and MCP as well and no go.

Experiment with just 2x2GB of RAM.

I have finally achieved stable overclock @ 3.6Ghz with vcore 1.496 as reported in CPU-Z. Here are my BIOS settings:

Help me with GTLVREF lanes. This mobo doesn't have any known multipliers or anything to help me with them.
