does this board get updated anymore? Doesn't seem like anything too spectacular happening with it.
Yeah, i bought this board couse all the hype it has gotDFI and all, though it has great bios and havent really annoyed me anything, but the acticity here in the thread and no bios updates at all
i still would like to for example use an older/other bios than this latest för Win 7, so the multiplier dont get all over, but now only restricted to this, no playing can actually be done seriously.
Well well, not to be like that but next board will not be DFInot couse its bad or anyt... just didn't bring "that" to my experience.
regards.

This tread got quiet for a while, but it shouldn't be taken as a bad sign. Could it indicate that everything is working fine for the owners of this board?.
Early adapters and nerds got their x58 for a long time ago and back then it was a lot of activities here. Can this quiet tread indicate that most of them managed to find a good 24/7 OC that they are happy with without further need for pushing (and rubbing)?.
But it is has been a long time since the last BIOS and I wouldn't mind to see a new one soon, maybe they are too busy with pushing the i5 to latecomers?

I think that with the inbuilt design faults with this mobo, linked with the fact that DFI can't rectify the problems via the bios.
Would explain why most of us that had this mobo, have long since dumped it and moved onto other mobo's that actually work.
LO, that could be an explanation too.,
I personally never had any problems with "inbuilt design faults". My MB and CPU seams to handle even better OC, but the cooling is my limiting factor. I know some people have moved to Classy in a hope to get a better OC. How much better OC do you got by moving to classy?

That's a good OC, but considering your subzero cooling and i975, anything less would be too shabby for you.
There is no doubt, it is fun and interesting to get a good max OC, but how much more Max OC are you getting now (compared to DFI)? It is more interesting to know how much more 24/7 OC you are getting compared to your old DFI?

My basic 24/7 overclock (4.4ghz), is 200mhz higher than the DFI. But that isn't the most important thing. The fact is, my current clock is 100% rock stable.
My UT x58 was never stable under any circumstances, at any clock worth talking about. Not just me either, BD24 never really got his stable either once he got a D0.
I think Rgone may well have given up with it as well. Clunk got shot of his as soon as he could, the list goes on and on.
Then i guess, it gott'a be some difereces between boards. My MB runs stbale enogh for 24/7 use @4.3GHZ with 12GB RAM on air.
I'm aware that 1 hour Prime dosn't mean it is totaly stable, but is at least an indication. I have been using the same setup for overnight 3D-runder jobs and it was stable for the job, but was a bit too hot for my liking.

I think most folks actually use their boards once they found their stable points rather than continually share their settings. You'd think links in first post of this thread would have enough for folks to read and learn and try/test for themselvesI spent a good solid 6+ months testing DFI UT X58 - great board for the price. I even moved my DFI JR X58 to my new intended 24/7 build as well
But guess there's alot of sample variance/results from other folks with X58 boards. Now spending some time testing other boards because I can - Asus P6T6 WS Revolution right now

Nice Oc Sam.
For me this board wasn't a big deal, or at least not as big as I expected.
The lack of bios updates is pretty sad, because there a few things to be improved.
But on the whole Im... satisfied, that would be the word.
Apart from the fact that I couldn't achieve a higher OC than 4.2 for 24/7 with HT On, it works fine. And to be honest that lack of OC is because of my cpu not my board.
Finally I can say that is a good board, I always wanted to try one from the dfi stuff and the next one surely will be EVGA, that classified thing bought me.

Thx Osterman, but it just got even better
Sometimes man needs a little push to try a bit harder. I thought my cooling couldn't handle the 4.4GHZ, but it did. The Prime run will be a few degree hotter for sure, but I can get used to this OC.
At least my MB is not stopping the OC. I had planned to try this for a long time, and thx to all for pushing this ahead.

For those wanting BIOS updates, there is a recent modded BIOS from DFI posted by the local distributor here. It's aimed more at fixing some SATA issue reported by a local user though.

Yes, but this is their high-end motherboard and should not abandon it so. I am happy with this board, but can always be squeezed from it. Even the feeling when there is a new BIOS with some improvements, it makes to experiment again and keep a little more the board. However, the board is for enthusiasts and DFI should to maintain interest in it until this is actual chipset.
I think this post of @cstkl1 in i4memory.com is very revealing and I agree with him for the DFI's attitude to this board at the moment:
yeah but my arguement is based on that evga initially used dfi settings and went further since both bioses are alike.
technically what the evga can do for the ram timings etc.. the dfi can do it also...
I hope DFI will do something soon.

As said, I wouldn't mind to see a new BIOS, but the big question is if the x10 RAM is a good option (anywhere close to sweet spot) for 24/7 use?. It would of course be a nice option and a lot of fun for benching/testing.
I have been playing with memory options for 24/7 use, and tried:
DDR3-2100MHZ 9-10-9-24 1.65v
VVT=1.32/1.36v (BIOS/Load)
20706 Mb/s (read), 41.3ns Latency
pros:
~2k more bandwidth
~2.3ns better Latency
cons:
~5'C more on PWM-temp
~3'C more on CPU-temp
CL up with 2
DDR3-1680 7-8-7-21 1.65v
VVT=1.23/1.26v (BIOS/Load)
18748 Mb/s (read), 43.6ns Latency
Pros:
Les VVT
Less heat&noise, the sweet spot for 24/7 use.
Cons:
You don't get the highest benching-numbers with your RAM.
On my setup, the x10 RAM has about ~2k more bandwidth, and ~2.3ns better Latency. Other numbers (L2 and L3 too) are almost the same. But it needs much more VVT, with more heat on system and CPU! . Not mentioning the Intel's recommendations for max VVT for 24/7.
I have tried really hard to track the impact of x10 RAM on my applications, but i couldn't see any difference yet (even on my most RAM-hungry applications). I can only conclude that x8 RAM is overkill for desktop use, anyways. My RAM is rated as DDR3-1600 CL7, and these numbers may vary for DDR3-2000 kits, but you can always use tight timing (down ~2CL) and get almost the same performance with these kits, with less heat and noise. This is what makes x8 a much better option (better heat/noise/performance ratio, also the sweet spot) for 24/7 use.
I wouldn't mind to see a better RAM options for x10 RAM on next BIOS, but even then I wouldn't use (or recommend it) for 24/7 use.

Yeah, you're right, but I had in mind not only the settings of RAM. I can do this numbers with my RAM, but it needs a lot of power
Personally for me is not so important if my RAM will be at 2100 or 1680 for 24/7, (I even can't use 2100 for 24/7 with this RAM), the difference in the real applications and games is almost invisible, but in benchmarks already it's important for me, and I love to bench. My idea was that once again repeated the attitude of the DFI, as before with X48 T2R - forgotten high-end motherboard with poor support.
Do not get me wrong, the board for me is one of the best in comparison with those X58 that I've had, but I think DFI should pay more attention to theirs flagship motherboards, because "never is enough"![]()

its easy to do 4.4ghz-4.6ghz
as i said before overclocking this way any idiot with a good proc and good cooling can do it.
mem overclocking.. STABLE.
with the understanding of rtl and mem skews..
it came to a full stop when trying above 2100mhz ++
also the rtl's of the classified is currently lower. the reason being is better mem skews.
same thing happened before the 04 bios. .
pwm and system temps..
this is because u have a piss poor cooling.
when cooling is not a factor and ure hardware can take more, u dont make excuses on mobo bios as reasoning
and this is stable up to 2 hours max for 2100mhz C8
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=224040
hmm sam ure arguement for high dram speed is the same as y u need ure proc to be above 4ghz??
u can run lower voltages and cooler.

I tried this UTX58_A08 BIOS, but I didn't see any new settings or difference in the performance of RAM. Obviously it's based of 7/24 because there is no problem with 21x Multiplayer under Win7. Maybe as @MacClipper said, the bios fixed only some SATA issue, which I haven't
So, we keep waiting for something new one day.
