Core i7 Overclocking by Batch #

gigabyte MB's have this thing where you can set say
1.18-1.20-1.206 and in cpuz it just stays at 1.16
and 1.218-1.22-1.225 and cpu shows 1.18v
at least on all my ep45-UD3P/R's it did and im
assuming its the same on this board too.

This is the exact same on the X58 UD5 mobo, I have to raise the Vcore by three increments in the BIOS before it changes in CPUZ, just like you have described.

yea its a gigabyte thing.i used to see people,just an example
in cpuz thier vcore was 1.19 and im like what the hell how you getting 1.19v
because mine went 1.186 to 1.20.but then i realized they are using different
MB's asus or evga or biostar,each have different increment scales

Yep the bios changes vcore in increments of .00625v but the sensor on the mobo which cpuz is reading reports in steps of .016v. So you have to go up 2-3 steps to see the change.

Just had a look back at your posts radaja, that is one mighty fine chip you have got there mate!!

Wish I could get my hands on a chip that could run on those kinda voltages.

im just glad it works,well im also mighty happy that its good too.
but after i got it and my dfi board and couldnt get it to prime at stock settings
i thought the worse,that it was going to be the cpu because everything is inside
now(IMC)and then seeing imo's cpu i thought great ive got a great batch but ill
never experience it.but alls good now.

nicely done. 4.5 GHz at 1.424v is not bad at all considering its actually stable. Not just bench stable.

I don't get memory speed even near that Radaja. Anyone have any ideas why? Not the latest version of Everest perhaps?

yep,thats what im thinking.also im on vista64,i know on my ddr2 lga775 rigs
there was a big diff in copy scores between 32bit and 64bit

Do you get same numbers on retry? Everest has a tendency to report "wrong" numbers once a while, but reports "correct" mostly. But in case it would report too high, and I have never seen it to report too low (at least on system).

Your numbers are too low for your Uncore and timings. It seams to be off by about 3000MB/s(read). something seams to be wrong, but it is not easy to say what from a distance. You can try to bench with higher Vdimm to check if it is a hit&miss.

It seems to be right around the same no matter how many times I refresh. I will try upping the dimm voltage and report back. Thank you.

*Edit* Going from 1.66 to 1.68 did absolutely nothing. I have been trying to nail this down for a month now.

If your RAM can't handle the speed, (and sometimes raising the Vdimm wouldn't help either), then you can get bad results. Have you tested the stability of the RAM and IMC (with memtest or similar)? Take a new HyperPi32M run anyways, it will show the problem fast.

You can also try to bench with x6 RAM @6-7-6-22 (or something similar), but try to keep the Uncore at the same x16. Just to see if you can get better numbers.
