Agreed with you, it looks photoshopped:

I hope the 5870x2 doesn't have the same growing pains that 4870x2 users have mentioned. I had my fair share of issues ( driver wise ) with mine from launch it to about January 09. Perhaps the catalyst team has learned from their mistakes / road bumps.

Its funny you brought up the Accelero. I was waiting for those things for forever but they never came in time... mabey someone will offer a 3rd party air solution for the 5870x2 before its EOL... lol.

Pardon me for asking noob question but what would've been ideal instead of the PLX?

Lucid Hydra FTW!!! Of course I think everyone was hoping for SidePort.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

Now a lucid hydra 200 chip on card would surely make things interesting.
I am not gonna get my hopes up thou.

Any method that is transparent to software. I don't want Crossfire on a stick, I was really hoping AMD would take the X2 to the next level where each GPU had a shared memory pool etc. in other words an actual dual core GPU in function if not in silicon.

    +1

Which is why I have decided to go with "just" one 5870 instead of my 4870x2.
For me it's a no brainer. Less power usage a about the same performance level.

It should have been obvious that wasn't going to happen this generation. It may happen eventually, but clearly not on the current architecture.
