dx11 ~38% performance boost over dx10 on Battle Forge

Rather interesting that dx11 shows significant performance enhancements over dx10

    http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.p...postcount=3801

We are seeing improvements up to ~38% in the average FPS when comparing feature level 10 and 11 on the same hardware.

Demirug is one of Battle Forges devs.

This was discussed before however it appears that many didn't know about it. In any case there are benchmark results of Battleforge using DX11 here and here. Enjoy

Woah, nice! Unlike Dx10 that brought performance losses, lol.

Guys, WTF are you so happy about? It's only a DX11 game. Nvidia said DX11 isn't important to gamers so this is just some nonsense those ATI fanboys are trying to fool us with. I don't believe any of this "38% faster" mumbo-jumbo. Nvidia is the truth and ATI/DX11/OpenCL is a lie! Why doesn't everybody just use Nvidia...

The above is a representation of what Jen Hsun Hwang would want all of us to think after they released their statement the other day. It sounds like nonsense because it is nonsense.

Are we talking about this battleforge?

No wonder I never heard of it...A 7.3 game....

Anyway, good to see the performance jump, but being 1 title it's still too early to know whether it's due to a poorly optimized DX10 mode, or a very well optimized DX11 mode. It's a sign of good things to come, but it's sadly not golden yet. Here's to being hopeful though!

Funny that he says that , because Nvidia just said that they are working really hard on their new dx11 card and that it will win over ati's current dx11 card , remeber Nvdia said that dx10 was very important for gamers

    1. who seriously cares about gamerankings.com
    2. if you never heard of battleforge before it doesn't have anything to do with its "gamerankings-rank", but more with the fact that it seems like you lived under a stone for the last 1/2 year

i'm an avid pc gamer and i don't know much about battleforge

besides the fact it's the game ati touts whenever you install ati drivers

dx10 got such a bad name mostly from reviewers imo. any review i saw had dx9 vs. dx10 and dx10 was 'less fps' but most forgot to mention that dx10 had volumetric smoke etc. enabled during the tests. comparing 2 things when one is doing more work than the other than glorifying dx9 when it had more fps but looked worse.

How is Nvidia holding back the industry, do you really think dx11 was going take the industry by storm overnight or something. Even if Nvidia had an entire lineup of dx11 hardware out the door things would still be the same as they are today. I really don't know the timetable it takes to finish a game beginning to end but I would imagine game development today takes well over a year from start to finish. I would also guess some dx10 titles probably are not finished yet after years of developing so much as finishing from the ground up dx11 titles.

I do agree that dx11 should have a faster uptake than dx10 simply because of Vista's already large user base which will have access to dx11.

they're not releasing their product at the same time as ATi's equivalent, which means ati will spend more time on the next product.

That might as well be the same as saying ATI held back dx10 when the 8800 was released...

Um, if I'm not mistaken, it was actually Nvidia who lobbied microsoft because their GPU's couldn't do real dx10, which was originally supposed to be what dx10.1 is. The R600 was just a flop far to late, and far to power hungry.

I doubt it considering early games released using a new api would have to be developed before the actual hardware is available in the case of both dx10 & 11.

Well if Nvidia wields such lobbying power there would have been no 10.1 at all and they would have been able to lobby for a delay of dx11, if they had that kind of clout.

Well Nvidia sure did one hell of a job whoring it out for their 8000Series. I think a lot of people expected a lot annnnnnnnd then flop. Really nothing considering most huge games this past couple of years have still been dx9. Why I haven't bothered to upgrade. I can still play everything I want, even L4D2 on high so I'm real f'ing jaded after spending $310 for this card, DX11 is going to have to blow me away.
