Nothing that was originally touted is on it? Who claimed this?
No jalyst, this is just the current UD5 but with a revised X58 chipset, the new X58A's supposedly don't have the 222 Bclk wall that the current ones have.

    Ahh, I see!

Hmm, well what board did you have in mind then?

I think I can say, you should save up for a high end board and not expect to get a lower end / budget one, but I ca't say more than that.

    *edit*

And yes as said above, the hard mod will already be done and you will be able to pass 222Blck/8000GT/s QPI

So in other words, expect the prices of the EX58A series to be higher than the release prices for the previous EX58?

I just edited my last post, the latest UD5's seem to be using the latest revision of the X58 chipset (Rev13), so if you buy one now, you are more than likely going to get this newly revised chipset, although as far as I am aware there isn't any noticable difference between these revisions.
My UD5 is a Rev13. I ordered it roughly 2 weeks ago. I was going to wait for these new boards but I was somewhat forced to upgrade. I'm more than happy with it though. I've yet to try any high clocking on it as I'm still waiting on Noctua for a 1366 mounting kit.

That's okay, if we're locked into high-end boards only for the X58a then I'm happy to pay the premium IF...

There's significant 'real world' improvements and not marketing BS!
But we don't know which it is, as we still know very little about what the final beast is going to look like.

    Hi All,
My 1st Post! I RARELY join boards to post any comments but after googling, reading, and waiting, and rinse and repeat, I had to chime in. I'm an IT Admin, responsible for hundreds of servers, with a family. I love games, but have no time. However, I am generally into technology and am itching to get a new Rig. My last RIG was a DUAL AMD CPU on a TYAN TIGER MOBO built in 2001. I was multi-cpu @ home before many even thought about it. It was awesome back then. Now, that the need for games was satisfied with my PS2, XBOX and XB360, I didn't need to upgrade my RIG until I got into virtualization which needed more POWER.

While its hard to completely trust anyone without facts, I believe Lsdmeasap. Here's why. As I'm sure you are aware, Gulftown is coming and Intel has already confirmed that it will be pin compatible with the current EX58/1366 setup.

    See : hxxp://www.dailytech.com/Gulftown+is+the+Flagship+of+32nm+Westmere+Line/article14227.htm

This means, along with the release of the P55, the problems with SATAIII, and the imminent release of Gulftown, why should any company continue to invest time and money on older tech when newer (and compatible) is right around the corner?

BLunTSmoKeR, I feel your pain. Like LowBoy, I bought a 920 D0. I was about to buy the ga-ex58 until I found out about the EX58A (aka EX58-EXTREME2). I waited, and waited, but nothing! No release! Now I'm stuck... however, here's my reccomendations to anyone caring...

This applies to every technology purchase, from here until the end of time.
Technology progresses everyday. The moment something is released, its obselete. There's always something better right around the corner.

Those WANTING an upgrade vs those NEEDING an upgrade are in 2 different boats.
If you can afford it, and NEED it, you have no choice. Buy it.
If you WANT it, but finances are tight, WAIT.
...and those in the middle ground, like BLunTSmoKeR & I... well, the thirst for technology is guided by trying to get the BEST for the money. This sometimes means lots of research before the plunge, which generally ends up spending a lot of time. Time is something we should NOT take for granted. Its the one thing we can not get back in life. While we wait for new tech, the time we could've been spending enjoying the tech, is wasted with frustrated and fruitless internet searches. It sucks. (Frankly, It seems to be even harder to make a great decision nowadays with sooo much info available at our fingertips! Information Overload people! )

I am extremely close to buying an EVGA TRI SLI. Nothing will be purchased before Windows7 is released AND a DirectX11 video card. Whatever the best MOBO (for MY needs) out then, is the one I will buy.

Good Luck all, and wonderful board! I'll be watching!

If it was coming out this year they could give us rough release dates by now.
Pretty standard practice for stuff that's not vaporware...

This mobos arenot being released in the UK that has been confirmed once again by the people at Gigabyte, here is their response to my query:

The one which was posted in XS forum (it was produced) but was just engineering sample not mass production.
I don't know what the deal is with the rest of the world, but this is the 3rd time I have enquired about these mobos, and I get told the same thing each time, that these boards willnot be released to public in the UK, and that the X58A UD4P that hicookie showed us on this forum was an engineering sample.

So much for you guys who tried to say they would be available in "a few weeks"... I knew this wasn't going to be the case.

Am I right in saying that pretty much all of the current GB X58 boards are EOL?

I wonder why they have stopped producing x58 boards, surely they don't want to focus all of their attention on P55??

I doubt the current GB X58 mobo's would be EOL, as X58's still an important chipset (for the higher end) right through next year, according to Intel's roadmaps.

I am sure that I read somewhere that the current X58 UD5 was getting discontinued, and the Extreme is already discontinued, so that would just leave the UD3R and UD4P..

I can't remember where it was I read this about the UD5..

Maybe that's to make way for these mythical x58a-based mobos?
It'd be highly unlikely they're killing off their entire x58-based mobo range though.

UD4P's aren't even being supplied to any retailers here in Canada anymore. There's only a healthy supply in the UD3R.

Be assured though, what has been rumored is untrue!

I will keep you posted once I know if I can tell the full details or not

And I MUST Disagree with the RMA comments as well.

I help MANY Gigabyte customers and so I hear about RMA's often and have never heard of any bad experiences, at least in the US anyway. Really I have not heard of any personally elsewhere either. Everyone says 2-3 weeks and things went very smoothly, that's all I ever hear. Sounds about the same as any RMA really, faster then some I think too.
    Lsdmeasap,
It's not only me,but I beleive thousands of the people read this.

Believe what you guys want, you will have to give in later when it is released.

I believe what I have been told, and just last week was again assured it will be coming. I can't say more.

I was not given a time frame or release date, only told soon

I'm interested in the new mobo gen (X58A), could you say at least if it will be on stores by December?

And could you show the E.S tests and pics that hicookie had?

Since GA-P55A-UD4 board with SATA 6.0 Gbps, USB 3.0 is getting released in Novermber i guess if they had any plans to launch EX58A mobos any time soon we would hear announcements by now.

Too bad, i want EX58A-UD5 so badly, but it looks like i have no choice but to go for regular UD5.

At least some news(but to late for me )about P55A-UD4.
I think will be same story with EX58A.
GA-P55A-UD4, the tweaked board has support for LGA 1156 Core i5/i7 processors, a 12+2 phase power design (the P55-UD4 has 8+2), four DDR3 memory slots, two PCI-Express x16 slots for SLI or CrossFireX setups, plus two SATA 6.0 Gbps ports 'powered' by a Marvell chip, and two USB 3.0 connectors enabled by a NEC chip.
The GA-P55A-UD4 will become available in November or December and is set to co-exist with the non-A model as it will be priced higher. How much higher, that's yet to be confirmed.
Gigabyte readies GA-P55A-UD4 board with SATA 6.0 Gbps, USB 3.0

Yeah I'm starting to think the ex58a might actually be a reality...
I'm not in any rush, but I will start to get pissed if it's still not around in the 1st week of the new year.
