omg why are all Q9650's so good my Q9550 just sucks doesnt go over 4GHz... also my vid is not as good as it should be my min vid is 1.1 and my max is 1.275 -.- anny tips here to get it over 4GHz..?

My mobo is a DFI Lanparty DK P45-T2RS+ i know it isnt that good for quads but there must be more in it cause my cpu's vid is 1.275 so i think my cpu is the bottleneck and not the bord. so maybe im gonna switch with my brothers Q9550 he has a vid of 1.150

Nice clocks on that 9550. That's a pretty insane vcore heh.
***********************
After some more testing, it became pretty clear that my REX was not suitable to clock a quad with, so I am now using my P5Q Deluxe. Seems PL 8 @ 467 FSB on the 4:5 divider (DDR2-1167 MHz) is stable, and requires 1.36 - 1.40 vNB (haven't tried to test minimum yet, but 1.34vNB was not stable, at least using default NB GTL Ref as I'm yet to tweak this). It's cooler today and I have the 2000rpm scythe at full speed so temps are a little better but its still very hot and it's limiting the CPU's max speed.
I will post some results if I get anything decent stable, I wont have anything near as good as some of you guys with your low VID chips and watercooling though.

Well i dont have that cpu yet i still have my own one with vid of 1.275 -.-.
I realy want the cpu of my brother cause he isn't a OCer he will use 4GHz and thats easy with my cpu at 1.296 volts on my bord and he has a Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 so that wouldn't be a problem. and i dont want to blow another 150 euros for a new motherbord since now you have core i 5 core i 7 and soon core i 9 so i think its a little bit useless to upgrade my mobo for lets say 500MHz higher clock. First im going to test some more with this CPU en hopefully this weekend i have the CPU of my brother
@Loco23
Pretty High VCore for that clock :P.
But ok anny tips are welcome

True here a validation of 500FSB x 6 so you can see its not my mobo :P

This is what I've managed so far. As you can see, it's a very hot cpu. Prime small FFT's run at 76*C max at the same settings. To go further I'd need water cooling.

Cryptik: The good thing is it appears that your chip doesn't crap out at 65-70c, a lot of 9650's lose stability at anything above that. If possible put it on water and try the giga board. Nice vcore for 4200mhz.
cryptik most important i find are gtl settings on rex or on ud3p
i was fine with quad on rex but only with 2 gigs of ram

You must switch your mobo. Everybody told you about this.
I had 4 processors:Q9450, Q9550 and two Q9650. All of them could work at 500FSB.

The GTL Refs are set to 0.670x (0/2) and 0.690x (1/3), and NB GTL Ref is on auto at the moment.
I can't call it stable, as I have only run large FFT's at those settings for around 40 mins. I have not been able to spend much time on testing.
I did run HCI memtest to load the ram and NB and I did get an error but it may be the ram, as I'm using the sticks I benched on DICE at 3.00v+
I'll use some known good sticks and do more testing but I think it may take 1.44 - 1.46vNB for stability.

Perfect GTL's differ from cpu to cpu, and also depend on Vtt. Setting them to above settings improved stability for my chip.
So I just upgraded from my sweet 1.2125VID E8600 to a used Q9650 I got from a forum. Turns out the Q9650 is 1.225VID!
First, I'd like to say that... WHOA... Quads need so much more voltage for stability..........
On the same board, my E8600 Did:
Anyway, I was stuck below 2000FSB because anandtech suggested no more than 1.36vTT...
I stumbled upon this thread, set my vTT to 1.4v and 2000FSB is mine.
I haven't downtuned my cpu voltage yet, but that's up next after linx verification.

I think your overvolting your CPU @ 1.392v. You should use a lot less to get stable at 4ghz. Heck I thought mine was high for 4ghz and we both have the same VID. It something else that is not stable.
My latest bench, took me a week to get there WITHOUT Acards ANS9010:
PCMark05 23.7K
Now I only need 689 point to consolidate the Q9650 ranking![]()
