Big diff from GTR to GTS voltage tolerance wise etc etc...

GTR tends to run tighter better.

Gts really shines higher but......2x1gig is kinda pointless for everyday users.....thus I wasn't pushing 2x1gig etc Benching sticks in this thread nor high volt stuff.

what about those ocz amd editions with the kpt how dose that compare

dose the gts do more or less voltage than the gtr, and on my question dose ddr-phy help ram clocking

You want to compare apples to oranges?

We are talking a $300 difference between sets....budget mainstream to high end performance.

That shootout would best be done with say a bunch of sets in the under $100 range.....and would be more fitting to a thread called "best bang for buck 2x2G DDR III for AMD"

No clue on the PHY setting...havent used my MSI in a while....

GTS normally requires/likes less voltage than GTR.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I read that Chew* didn't recommend powerchips ram for Phenom II systems. Why is that?
For 24/7 running @1600 (no more since Phenom cant's handle higher speeds very well) and tight timings which one of these two would be better:
    G.Skill 2x2GB DDR3-1600 Ripjaws CL7 (Powerchips) or G.Skill 2x2GB DDR3-2000 CL9 Ripjaws (BBSE chips)?
    Thanks for your help!

ps: will I have problems running this kits at rated timings in an AMD rig?

BBSE chips are better than Powerchips. (Check memory thread in AMD section) More results of BBSE will come, Chew said he is going test several samples of this IC.

AMD platform just likes tighter timings for more optimal results (as mentioned here above)

Just got me a kit of 2x1GB CSX Diablo with GTR's for benching!

These did so great on my Rampage Extreme, i regret selling them:

Let's hope the new kit will do as fine on AMD.

jupp... i compared gtr and gts several times, same batch... and there was 0 diference... actually gtr sometimes did better in the same batch than gts lol

overall i think the diferences people experience are batch related, there have been huge diferences between good and bad batches of micron d9 ddr3...

in one batch half of the sticks did 1800 665 with 2.25v, stable, in the next batch none of them would run above 1700 665 no matter what volts, and someonly 1600...

I think you're right saaya, it's very much dependant on the batch.

I remember the diablo's with GTS were supposed to be a tad better in that they needed slightly less voltage to achieve the same GTR did.

The 2GB sticks had GTS and the 1GB had GTR chips, still the 1GB sticks clocked better but probably due to the density.

The trend of good and better baches continues in the JNM, JNL and KPT batches it seems.

I have 2x1GB JNM here that need at least 1.95V to run 6-6-6 stable, good batches can do the same with 1.8-1.85V

i don't know what ICs these modules have and i don't want to remove the heatspreaders. i tried to ask on their forum but i got no reply. anyways, $400 seems a bit unreasonable for me right now but i'll be looking forward to your tests with that amd kit you are mentioning. thanks

There should be a place on the forum that breaks down all the models and revisions and tells you what ICS are used. No need to void your warranty, not to mention they are glued....death imminent if you attempt to remove.

ridney, corsair kindly writes revision on each module so you can know what chips they have and estimate oc potential

chew, 1gb gtr and jnl modules are quite common. are 1gb modules much slower than 2gb on amd?

yes i know corsair lists module part numbers and revisions with their corresponding ICs but it is not yet listed there

    http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68811

i think massman has tested these modules with i5 and he stated that it's micron f ?? i have no idea...

If you take a look at the list you'll notice that the "revision to IC" correspondance is always the same!
It doesn't matter that your specific kit isn't listed.

That's D9GTR, isn't it? They run fast and they need voltage, and they die very fast... It's always sad when you lose good memory, but that's the way it is.

    Nice frequency by the way!

99.99% they are D9GTR. They was died out from the box
This is frequency from BIOS, boot frequency.
I hope RMA-ed sticks be nice overclockable too.
