I have mounted both disks in the removable enclosures of this thing http://www.startech.com/item/SAT2510...Enclosure.aspx , and put them in the 5 1/4" bays .
I used the cables that came with it .

In the technical specs it sais 3gb/s : http://www.startech.com/item-specs/S...Enclosure.aspx

But it also mentioned chipset Jmicron20336 , so i don't know how bad that is .

I havent tested the drives without the enclosures .

Are my scores still that bad ?

They are still low for Intel's G2 I think, test them outside the enclosure with normal sata cables connected directly to the ICH10.

Either the enclosure or the cables were indeed the culprit .

Perhaps the program has to create some files on the disk to perform the test? How would it work when it's full?

What's up with the prices on these? I thought MSRP was $229 for the G2, Newegg and various other places are selling them for over $300 for the 80Gb. How is this allowed by Intel? I cannot imagine anyone buying them at this price.

It really isn't in Intel's control. It is simple supply & demand. Obviously people are buying them for that price if they are almost always out of stock.

Theres a rumour going around that when newegg jumped its prices, Intel stopped shipping to newegg, and rotated all its shipments around that it gets its allocation last, but still with-in their contract period. Linked to that rumour is that because of the Intel SSD *direct to newegg* shipments have stopped temporaly, that newegg is currently getting their Intel SSD's from "grey" market sources(SSD's that are normally supposed to be sold only to OEM's such as HP for example) in 20-40 item allotments.

Who knows if the rumours are true, but in either case Intel, newegg, and others, haven't dealt with the whole G2 SSD situation very well, thats for sure.

Core 2 Duo(Conroe) was based on the Intel Core Duo(Yonah) which was based on the Pentium M(Banias) which was based on the Pentium III(Coppermine).

Core 2 Duo is a Pentium III on meth.

Best thing you can do as a consumer is to just NOT purchase from price gougers. Unfortunately some people don't mind paying extra to have today's technology, newegg and other vendors know this.

Exactly, I'm not purchasing anything from this price gouger. I can wait, or find somebody else!

Due to the whole Intel G2 pricing, Newegg and many other retailers have seriously soured in my eyes. The only retailer that hasn't whored out its customers, on pricing, has been Buy.com surprisingly.

They also occasionally show up on Buy.com's ebay store. It's a really nice deal when you add bing cashback.

"Ships from and sold by BeachAudio"

Depends on who you're buying through, Buy.com is much like Amazon in that respect.

I haven't heard of any of the controllers supporting trim in R0 but I think it will be added - I would guess we should start seeing it by the end of the year - after W7 release.

Tankguys was great as far as my order went on this drive.

Not only did it ship after 1 day of processing, but I received a retail version instead of the OEM one that I thought I would be getting.

Not that big of a deal but it was a nice surprise. Only negative thing I will say is that he ships using Fedex which is horrible in my area.

I just ordered my second drive from Buy.com and while they said they shipped it to the warehouse, now they are telling me that my order is delayed and upon calling, it turns out the item is on backorder and they do not have a supplier currently.

    Anyone else get this email?

Yes, I got the same email about being on back order.

What pisses me off is that I ordered it last Wednesday or Thursday from Buy.com, and they had it being in stock over the next 4 days. My order is still "processing"...which means I don't think I'm ever going to get the drives from them.

    Buy.com = FAIL

    Ordered mine on Friday.

This is pretty disappointing since they had the lowest price. I am thinking about canceling if I do not here anything tomorrow.

It is pretty sad since they listed on their ebay store that they had 240 or so units in stock. My order being within the first 5 orders.
