Im not talking about xxxhead2go (thats the cheap consumer stuff), but there graphics card.
They offer up to 4 displayes (and that already for severaly years) per card, with the option to use 2 cards in one pc. Making it able to use 8 displays.
All that was already back available in 2007.

Yeah, but ATI is offering six displays per card up to four cards. Surely there won't be any great needs for this even in medical purposes but I've seen five or six quite often (three screens + two/three projectors). Even if Matrox has a good share of those right now, competition could never be bad?

Well, his opinion is as justified as yours, check the constitutions.

And yeah, the 58XX looks to be a great series, I've got my cash waiting for the 5870/5870X2 and three new LCDs

    HD4890 consumes ~130-140W on average in 3D.
With official board power of 190W.
You were not supposed to see this.

Medical imagery (X-Rays, Ultrasound, MRI, PET, CAT scans) users love high resolution screens and I don't think they would be too bothered about the panel edges. Eyefinity cards (even low end as far as gaming is concerned) would be a bonus here as instead of buying a card and two triple head adapters you can run six screens from one card..

Yeah, I know and that was what I was getting at. They use multiple screens already so I don't believe they're that affected by panel edges since they want multiple images shown at the same time (sizes, angles, contrast, method etc), not one huge picture. For them Juniper seems like a very good deal.

Large numbers of displays isn't everything, especial in medical environments. What counts there the most, is to displayable grayscals, so high LUTs on the gfx and the monitor.

    edit:

    ninja post deleted?

There isn't a CPU coming within the next two years that will able to run three 5870s without a significant bottleneck.

    I'd be interesting! (3x 1920 x 1200, 27" Dell Monitors) = 5,760 x 1,600.

    FPS anyone?

    has Radeon HD 5870 X2, x4 ,x8 . Bye Bye Nvidia GT300.

When AMD had 64-bit and Intel had only 32-bit, they tried to tell the world there was no need for 64-bit. Until they got 64-bit.
When AMD had IMC and Intel had FSB, they told the world "there is plenty of life left in the FSB" (actual quote, and yes, they had *math* to show it had more bandwidth). Until they got an IMC.
When AMD had dual core and Intel had single core, they told the world that consumers don't need multi core. Until they got dual core.
When intel was using MCM, they said it was a better solution than native dies. Until they got native dies. (To be fair, we knocked *unconnected* MCM, and still do, we never knocked MCM as a technology, so hold your flames.)

these cards are monsters... cpu power is not relevant anymore for 70%+ of all games worth talking about

not to mention the next generation of cards, due in max. 18 months
we need higher resolution monitors now, pronto....

6 monitor constellations are not really viable

edit: sure, x8 hemlock cards^^ havnt heard of a miracle driver, not yet...
x4 is certainly possible, but nothing new... weve seen that for years

Well, while my cpu may not be the best, I don't imagine it hugely blocking a single card much if at all. Even a dual card card (5870 x2 or gtx295 for example).

    I have a q9550 at 4 ghz. So... I'M REHDEH!

    LOL

    2000w load? what a joke.

that alone proves its wrong. How would it get that power? like 8 8pin connectors? what kinda psu even has that many.

still... like no one would buy it

at 2000$ a pop and the requirement of a ridiculous power supply that probably doesn't even fit in 99% of cases (wouldn't even fit in my tj07 without removing hdd cages)

scaling itself would be horrible unless they got the on board CF/mcm working and even then at 80% scaling... the most you could hope for is 640% of a normal 5870 so its just a waste of money

I think whoever is editing that Wiki article is thinking of a Pc with 2 5870x2's and another with 4 5870x2's. So two cards, and four cards. How in the world could you have one card with 8 GPU's and a 2000watt power draw!?!?!

    LOL

edit: unless its the 295 sonic ultra with eleven 8-pin PEG:
