these boards are a bit funny sometimes when starting up. I have had rock solid stable oc's no post to what looks like dd post code or random f3..f6..f3..f6 infinitely only to hit the reset button and have it work no problem. small price to pay for an amazing board

Just got this board a few days ago but haven't played around with it. The new BIOS definitely improves the cold boot thing. Btw does anyone know why when I first start up it shows No drive detected?

So for someone looking to get into the x58 platform possibly, would you recommend this board (the E760 in particular I'm looking at) now that its been out for a while?

I was looking into it as well because of its huge passive NB heatsink.. I hate having small fans making that loud noise so that part of the board was quite appealing to me.. is it good for 200-210 BCLK cooling? Any other annoying things about the board?

I`m stable at 21x210 for 24/7 use, no problems, but i`m cooling PWM with 120mm fan. I think it ll be OK even with no fan, but temps will be 70-80 i guess, with quiet 12mm fan temps are arround 45-50. E760 is a very cold board according to DFI T3eH8 which was at 70-80 degrees with fan cooling and lower overclock and CPU voltage.

21x210? Does that mean you can force the turbo multiplier on? Or do you have a 940?

i7 920. All you need to do on this board is to set 20x multi and turbo on and you have 21 multi stable, no turbo throtling (I`m using Vista 64, dont know for win 7, but on XP and Vista never had turbo throtling). You dont need to enable EIST(its even missing in the BIOS).

    http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8...0maxmemory.jpg
The screen is old and I forgot to start the i7 turbo program which is detecting turbo throtling, but there is no multi drop. Its droping only when reaching 95-100 degrees and its a normal throtling the multi s droping to 17-18.

Thanks for the screenshots although they block the best parts of your background

I heard EIST support is 'broken' based on EVGA forums on this board.. don't really care much myself but that seems to be why its missing

When i got my board i flashed it immediately with S610, now i`m using S618 BIOS in these 2 there is no EIST support. May be they are decided to remove that option as soon as you are saying there is a problem, but I dont care never used EIST or C1x(C1x is supported, but never tried turning it on), but Turbo Mode is working perfectly .

i am new to this board and have a question about vtt. I put my vtt to +200mv wouldn't that make 1.30v E-LEET and bios tells me 1.43v witch one should i trust.

    +200mv = 1.4V VTT.
    I`m using for 24/7 +0V = 1.2VTT, measured with DMM 1.2 idle and 1.21-2 load.

I would check the set value by DMM... +200mV are about 1.374V real for me.

We do know that list... the question is if this particular serial of Revos works with the fixed 760, as there are rumors Enermax also fixed something about it.

    Guys, got a question.

I am looking to get a certain multi limited chip (19x ) that I want to run as high as possible for 24/7 crunching. My DFI UT x58 will probably top out at around 220-225 for that use, which only gives me 4,2Ghz or so.
Probably something nobody using the Classified has ever done, but - what's the highest attainable primestable BCLK on the classified? Provided the CPU can handle it of course... If it's >230 then it might be worth getting one...

Oh yeah, either Single Stage or Chilled Water cooling (probably chilled water, as the SS draws too much power 24/7)

There are some guys over at hardwareluxx.de forums priming at 230-235 iirc. The downside is: you have to clock it from windows as it's not bootable. But that would not really hinder your crunching system as it's not really rebooted very often, huh?

I cant boot over 222MHz from BIOS. Is this a board problem or the CPU? On DFI T3eH8 I was able to boot 227 from BIOS, but there was bootup clock, here its missing may be this is the problem? I didnt try other boards.

Its normal. I usually boot ~ 215 and go up in windows with Eleet / setfsb. Last bios should make things better regarding booting at high bclk but i have not tested yet.

Last BIOS is also limited to 221/222MHz. There indeed should be an option like DFI has had for ages - bootup bclk. This should enable the board to boot its eleet-stable bclks.

Yeah I can boot my 975 at 230 BCLk on the DFI, but it requires very high VTT (>1,5V) so not really 24/7 usable...

Yeah not needed over 222 for now, but the question is when gulftown is out with this low multi will the the board be able to boot over 222. And i also know people able to boot at 226MHz with classified may be its a CPU limit. Is there anyone who is 220-222MHz limited on classified and with the same CPU on other board able to boot at higher BCLK?(except DFI, because as we said there is a bootup bclk and this is not a problem)

On my unmodded GB X58 extreme I can boot at 226 with my W3520 (102 PCI). I think 235 was the max I could boot with the same cpu on DFI, but dont remeber excactly.
I was really looking forward to the new bios on Classified when it said it should fix high bclk boot, but havent seen any reports of success yet.

I didn't find this post on the EVGA forum - any more info available about the 'hit and miss' ? Well, before i have to replace my new PSU, i'll get another mainboard .
