well was fun while i had it. Returned the board. S3 sleep wouldnt work no matter what setting i played with. Only would work bone stock @ 266 fsb.

for some that might not be a big deal, but borked sleep mode is a deal breaker for me. I wonder if i had a bunk board? Back on my P35 and everything stable and working good.

going to get a lynnfield set up

    Thanks.

Scared to flash mine from F9c...I got a corrupted BIOS and it reverted to the backup BIOS so I don't know how to get the other one working again, lost all my profiles

Lately my board has been hanging on cold boot too, takes a few hard resets sometimes to get it to get past the memory check, usually just stops after it recognized the CPU and sits all day long

What revision board are you on tool? I get mine today WOOT! Now I think about it my GA-P35 DQ6 had that issue every now and then towards the end there. It wouldn't do it on stock settings though so.

Nah the sleep thing is a special Gigafail bonus feature that comes with these boards.

You might try backing the FSB down a little, and see if it continues or not. My P35 DQ6 deffinately had the same issue towards the end of me having it though no doubt about it. I was curious about the revision of your board based on your over clock though if you were wondering. I am just hoping this revision isn't crap compared to the 1.0 that is.

I'll deal with the boot issue rather than back my FSB down

As far as overclocking, 525 FSB is easy to get stable with a quad and 8GB Probably could go higher, but my RAM holds me back.

    Anything unlisted is auto.

Im not sure what I could adjust for stabilty or bring up for additional performance, ive overclocked in the past but not since my AMD Athlon XP3000 and i've had a few rigs since then but im not fimilar with alot of these terms and had done lots of readings and found this "Blend" to work well thus far. Please let me know if anything stands out as a sore thumb.

Also I have a very nice high air-flow 10,000 RPM fan screwed into the Northbridge heatsink it stays very cool, (Pulled the blue gigabyte label\metal cover off).

My CPU temps are at idle roughly 32c, load 50.

    Thanks!

So my VID is 1.25, which from reading isnt the ideal 1.15.

My above clocks are stable but id love to see 500mghz FSB x9 = 4.50ghz.

Can anyone help me maximize my 9650?

Ok guys i flashed back to F10b and that OC that i can pass on F10f i cant pass it on F10b, it fails in seconds...so i think that they adjusted something, thats why latencies are lower...So only thing they must fix is have the original bios as backup and not F10e.

    Cheers

    yeah for the most part.

did you run Prime95 Blend and small ffts?

also try running OCCT, usually it finds errors alot faster.

and lastly like 10 passes of Linnpack, although that might be over kill.

If i leave F10e or F10f wich im on now nothings wrong...but somehow this bios allowed my to do fine on 8,5multi and a little more on mem divider 2,50A wich sucked badly needed lots of volts...

    Thank you

I had set prime95 running earlier today, I have just come to the PC and it is off. I turned it on via the power button and prime95 resumed from where it left off.

I have checked the BIOS and all power management features have been turned off, EIST etc.

Is this a Windows 7 issue or a BIOS setting?

I'm not sure about the UD3R, on the UD3P I would not go above f10b bios. Sergio has been having problems since flashing to f10e

EDIT: was reading your mind Sergio lol.

I'm on f9 (UD3R) with no noticeable compatibility issues. They just released f11. Link It says "increased cpu compatibility". Not sure what cpu they mean (what cpu they've added), but my q9650 works great with f9 as does my e8400. I've used crucial ballistix 6400, gskill 8500pi, ocz reaper 8500, ocz blade 9200, and gskill 9600 mems on it and there's no problems to note. if it ain't broke don't fix it applies to these bioses. f9 is sufficient IMO.

That's a hell of a feat, i'm not suprised. it should take quite a bit of tweaking to get there, if it's even possible for your chip.

flashed my board (UD3P ver 1.6) to the FDa bios, the lan ports gave a hardware error after booting into W7 Ultimate RTM, i have a multiple boot setup and the same thing on the Vista Ultimate 64 side. tried reinstalling drivers, didn't change anything, flashed back to the old bios.
i liked the "quick boot", didnt give it a chance to OC, no web, i cant hang with that!
    Intel QX9650@~working on the OC..
