Ya I wish I had 2x 4870X2's instead of 4x 4870's, but they were not all purchased at the same time, so it just didn't work out that way. It is challenging to say the least with all of those cards.
29k doable about 4900+ Ben you scale about 1000 points give or take if your scaling NB and cpu 100 mhz until you hit about 6 gig then scaling kinda waivers.

chips avg from 4.6-4950 ish is the highest i've seen on DI, more than 2 cards costs a hit, I lost 50 mhz on the same chip from 2 gpu to 4 gpu from 4950 to 4900.

The MSI 790FX- GD70 is solid on DI, might want to give that a whirl, if anything can hit 30K on DI I think that would be the board........it's 100% solid for us on DI......i've only seen the deaths happen above 1.7v on ln2 and we ran one over 1.7v on ln2

Here's a rough Idea for you.

Thanks for the info chew*. The MSI 790FX-GD70 is exactly the board I am planning to get as soon as I sell my K9A2.

I think you can get 6,000 cpu points.

up the NB to 2911mhz memory down a bit to half the NB speed 1455mhz tighten up the timings if you can.

or you can see if you can get that extra 100 mhz see if there any difference.

I have tested at your suggested settings but possibly not during today’s tests, although I will check. The system sometimes scores 6K+ in the CPU tests but for whatever reason it didn’t during this test. I’ve tested using a lower multi and higher fsb to get close to the same clocks with the higher NB speed using the suggested memory settings but the test usually stops during the SM2.0 tests.

The problem I’m having is completing the HDR/SM3.0 tests at these clocks. I’ve tested for several days trying to find settings that would ease the stress on the entire system. As of today these setting are the only combination I have tried that completed the entire 3D06 run at these clocks. I finally resorted to lowering the default clocks on the GFX cards and then the HDR/SM3.0 tests completed.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I’ll keep testing as there is undoubtedly many combinations that I haven’t tried.

Chew* this was the highest I could manage 06 stable, and it was done with 1.688Vcore. I could run all the way up to 1.85 vcore but not even the higher vcore could help me get more speed out of all 4 cores. The new pot manage to keep temps between 191C and 185C. NB speed was 3400 to 3500, and higher just would not function....boot. So I will not be able to get any better results wich mean - your result will be safe.

Its a top notch score man especially for nvidia.

I have been benching all week long thus my lack of attendance having some issues myself but they are minor at best.

Looking forward to benching MSI again myself.

Msimax and myself have a date with 3d03 4x 4890's and the MSI if he can ever get down here.

Can't wait to see the 03 result. It is going to be great. Was benching a few hours ago with Vivi (as he broke the 01 single card record), and a couple other team members. I'm heading back there, and will then give the Gigabyte a go with Dice.

Oh and I saw what you meant regarding the condensation on the GD70. I used art eraser and toilet paper and it worked, but there was still ice underneath the PMW heat sink. Well not underneath, but just below, and against the caps.

Yep watch out for that if the condensation reaches those 5 chips its certain death to board and CPU.

Hey equinox1, you have any trouble completing the HDR/SM3.0 part of 3DMark06 or do you have problems with one of the other parts? This 965 will run the SM2.0 and CPU tests @4.28GHz but doesn’t really want more than 4.18 to 4.2GHz in the HDR/3.0 tests. I usually run into trouble in the CPU tests but not with this chip. I must be overlooking something? Anyway I hope you do top my score that way I have something to shoot for.
