    Not with 4x 4870, 2x 4870 x2 or 4x 4890......You need a 5gig chip......yet to find one that can run 5gig 3d on DI yet.

Multi card complicates things as well.......Ben part of your issue of scaling may have been 3 cards, bet you run 3d higher with only 2 GPU's on same chip
Well thanks for busting my bubble....

I will take you at your word on the 5GHz thing since you obviously have way more experience than me. What should my expectations for these chips be, 4600-4800??

Ya I wish I had 2x 4870X2's instead of 4x 4870's, but they were not all purchased at the same time, so it just didn't work out that way. It is challenging to say the least with all of those cards.

29k doable about 4900+ Ben you scale about 1000 points give or take if your scaling NB and cpu 100 mhz until you hit about 6 gig then scaling kinda waivers.

chips avg from 4.6-4950 ish is the highest i've seen on DI, more than 2 cards costs a hit, I lost 50 mhz on the same chip from 2 gpu to 4 gpu from 4950 to 4900.

The MSI 790FX- GD70 is solid on DI, might want to give that a whirl, if anything can hit 30K on DI I think that would be the board........it's 100% solid for us on DI......i've only seen the deaths happen above 1.7v on ln2 and we ran one over 1.7v on ln2

Here's a rough Idea for you.
