ATI said it - 2.5 times the computational power.
That's nearly 3 teraflops of brute power alone
If it has 2.5 the specs of a 4870 then it's about 25% more powerful than the 4870x2
Since the rumour said it has a 25-40% increase over the previous generation then it ties in perfectly with the 4870x2 comparison.
Put simply, this card should be as powerful as the GTX295 and then some ...with none of the scaling hangups.
Hopefully if everything ties in to what this post says ...then I think we've met the new 8800Ultra - a card that will play anything maxed for a few years.
Where do you get 24 mp? i only see 12,4 Mp
Also i guess the 14 monitors are for quadfire (4 cards with 6 displays each).
Its a nice "to have" feature, but seriously who gona spend that much money on monitors?
My monitor was 500€ and is only a MVA Panels (Lenovo L220x), and my next monitor will defenitly will be a a IPS panel (of theres no better alternative) and that one costs ~700€ a piece (NEC 2490WUXi²).
Only two of those will be 1400€--- and six gona cost 4200€
Thats 3 times more then the costs of my pc...
And people buying cheap TN panles ... enjoy your colors...![]()

Next monitor thing for me from my 200$ 1920x1200 24" TN panel is a 20" oled 1920x1200
Would be awesome, but I want performance numbers...not just for the 5xxx series, but for the gt3xx series as well.
I thought nVidia had an event of their own. No one seems to care.. but I tried to look it up..
All I found was that they're gonna rebrand G210 to GT310, GT220 to GT320 and GT240 to GT330..
Nothing about GTX380 or GTX360.. seems like they're really into rebranding old stuff..
WTF
They're like recycle company now ..

a little 24-monitor quadfire QUAKE III Arena action:
Look at that railgun shot flying past your head with a 180 degree POV! this multi-monitor setup thing is really interesting, but i have to admit i was hoping to see some benchmarks and specs today....

lol wut?
specs are out..
and this might give u an idea about the benchmarks, though the HD5870 is overclocked:

You are confusing the ability to see more content from the same image (what you originaly stated) with the screen resolution and size,so if you have let's say 5 soldiers on screen with a 65 fov you would see 3 soldiers @ 1280x800 and the same number @1920x1200 (only more detailed),but if you increase the fov to 80 you would see all 5 soldiers at both resolutions only more far away atleast that's my experience with de COD2/4 engine.
Now some sim games have fov scaling according to resolution (most by format wide vs. non-wide) and you actually see more content on multiple monitors, but that's fov and not resolution,I have seen a lot of people on wide screen gaming forums, modifying the game's ini. for a bigger FOV so that they can enjoy their triple monitor set-up.
Feel free to correct me though...
As for the 6 monitor set-up,it looks nice but even with Samsung's thin bezel LCD's the bezel is still very annoying.

Before you complain about lag, think about Jesus. He lagged three days before respawning.
Hell yeah. A few years ago at the E3 Convention the U.S. Military had a "Tent" setup with a full 300' surround screen playing their own custom version of America's Army. The setup also included a real Army H1 Hummer on pneumatic actuators that "players" rode in while using either an M4 Carbine, Browning .50cal machine gun, or you could be the driver (armed as well). The weapons actually had a (less than accurate) recoil system, making the firearm kick when fired, and the whole hummer moved all around like you were on some sh*tty road in Baghdad. Definitely good times.
Edit: This was a pretty sweet 20m diameter 360' screen they had there.

That's true. And those hoping that it will only be 25-40% more then a 4870 are going to be disappointed too.
That's why we need actual benchmarks so we can see the reality rather then the rumor. I'm quite disappointed in AMD that they decided not to show benchmarks today.
no bench mark on games![]()
When AMD had 64-bit and Intel had only 32-bit, they tried to tell the world there was no need for 64-bit. Until they got 64-bit.
When AMD had IMC and Intel had FSB, they told the world "there is plenty of life left in the FSB" (actual quote, and yes, they had *math* to show it had more bandwidth). Until they got an IMC.
When AMD had dual core and Intel had single core, they told the world that consumers don't need multi core. Until they got dual core.
When intel was using MCM, they said it was a better solution than native dies. Until they got native dies. (To be fair, we knocked *unconnected* MCM, and still do, we never knocked MCM as a technology, so hold your flames.)by John Fruehe

some possible multi screen configs:
According to Hardocp's Eyefinity aritcle, they will be revealing specs & benches tomorrow night.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Bring... bring the amber lamps.
If anythong you should use the TNs in front few, since the have no color degration when views frontal.
But mixing panels is a pain in the arse, different gray to gray switchtimes, and different latencies (which the gfx can do nothing about).
If you want so much monitors, they have to be from the same type. Especial for gaming. Where latencies are critical.
