I'm not overly concerned about the gaps between monitors as long as they can be minimized as much as possible.

Most programs that you'd want to play on multiple screens (3x.... since 6x would be insanely expensive) tend to be flight simulators and driving games. That being the case, I doubt many of you guys have driven a car or piloted a small aircraft in which the vehicle did not have support pillars like the A-Pillars in a car on either side of the windshield. Setting up the screens so the gaps are where you'd normally have these supports would make these gaps something you'd really not pay much attention to.

edit: well... now that i think about it, this wouldn't much apply to flight sims nearly as much. While the first two 2 seat trainers I flew (A Cessna 152 and Cessna Skycatcher) had an upper fixed wing which kept the pit rather car-like. Now the single engine 2-seater LSA (light sport aircraft) that I got to fly after I got my license was a completely different world. Nothing like a bubble canopy.

Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

Oh please, don't let it be the EyeInfinity AMD is touting when they said "You won't believe your eyes."
Because it seems there's more of the EI shown rather than some performance of the card. Is there something worth keeping at all?

BTW, some ppl are talking about Crysis on 5870 here(1st post), Chiphell, Translated.
I can't read Chinese nor fully trust Google's translation. So, was that a simulated perf.?

    It's 4 of these:

    like this... LOL

    @labs23
Crysis was a real run on win7, phII, and an OC'd 58701GB, but there is nothing to compare it to, and no specifics as to which map, etc.

One card can play crysis at 24 megapixels... WHAT!?!

I can't understand why you are bad mouthing this? I'm really getting excited about this, I've been waiting to buy my first LCD but now I'm more into getting three (one expensive and two cheaper), it would really be insane. Maybe even getting a second 5870 to get some decent fps... Finally I can start driving racing sims again, now the FOV is improved at least. The "only" thing missing is a G-force chair...

Too bad probably no 5870 reference cards will come with 6 display outputs. It'll be up to manufacturers to include that IMO.

Certainly got nothing bad about EI, its an added bonus from AMD that will surely benefit many ppl in the long run.

I just hope they devote equal attention bet. features and performance. No one would want a "up the specs. a bit, add a new feature, and call it DX11" scenario right?

“Samsung has worked tirelessly to give consumers high-quality monitors that deliver both superb image quality and amazing design and ergonomics, and with our latest line of ultra-thin bezel displays, we’re bringing the best of both worlds to bear for a phenomenal computing experience using PCs with ATI Eyefinity technology,” said Young Bae, Director of Display Product Marketing for Samsung Electronics America, Information Technology Division. “Samsung’s ultra-thin bezel displays combined with ATI Eyefinity technology gives PC users a virtually seamless canvas on which to enjoy the latest games, entertainment and productivity applications.”

We'll be able to get some sweet monitors for this setup. With some good wall mounts I hope

Well, are you seriously doubting that Evergreen won't be DX11 compliant? I think the rumoured specs look very good - a doubling of RV770 in pure numbers and maybe even added performance per shader. So performance doesn't seem to a problem.

Add to that DXCS and tesselation I believe this is a generation that can last a long time. I was waiting for these cards but couldn't resist buying a 4850 at 100$ a year ago... And I'm not the least unimpressed yet.

i think theres a few things to correct

to get into a game, a large screen with AA will be good enough compared to multiple screens, all though for some extreme people it will be worth it to buy 3/5/6 monitors. i just got a 40" tv thats 1080p and i might try and place it on my desk and use as a monitor for a week and see how i like it.

and its way better for some games other than flight sims. MMOs love more real estate, FPS like the wide view. RTS love more pixels (wide and tall), action games probably not so much, since they are usually over the shoulder with the camera way back, and for racing, i would honestly have larger over more, since the closer you get to making your perspective closer to life, the easier it is to determine speed and distance. (and this is also where i would love to see higher framerates, 240FPS in a racing game will in my opinion be more important than getting better graphics)

Hmm, if they go with that 45 degrees angled die again, I hope it won't make present third party coolers incompatible.

I seen someone post this who apparently went to the event:

AMD says that their next-gen GPU will 250% faster than the one introduced in Jul of 2008

    250%? Of the 4870?

Well, with 1600 shaders (double of the 4870) and faster memory at the clockspeed of the 4890 then yeah, 250% of the 4870 seams feasible.
Twice as fast and then a bit ..matches the leaked specs

what if they were to use some kind of reflection or refraction to get a .5mm bezel. we just saw samsung is working on making monitors for eyevision, but will it just be thin black strips, or are they trying some optical tricks to make it really look just like one screen

    250%? Of the 4870?

Confirmed now, AMD indeed stated this:

AMD says that their next-gen GPU will 250% faster than the one introduced in Jul of 2008. That is going by raw TFLOPS
    http://209.85.229.132/translate_c?hl...Jw3_Dzjn9VWg0w

So it seems the 24-40% increase in performance rumour is completely faked or it is referring to being faster than the 4870x2/295

DAAAAAAMN ...this card is gunna be FAST
