I really want to believe it 25-40% faster than the 4870x2. That would absolutely awesome. If its only being compared to R770 or R790 then I'll pass... At this point I'm assuming 1600SP is the case ( makes the most sense ) so I don't see a doubling of shader units, increased throughput and more rops as only managing 25-40% over a 4870...

Hopefully tomorrow something tangible is revealed...

    40% better than the 295

I don't believe the prices are correct. AMD wouldn't sell many 5870's at that price.

The only scenarios I see those prices being true are if:

    1. AMD cannot make the cards in sufficient volume to price them at a lower point.
    2. The performance of the 58 series will be hellishly fast.

It wouldn't be the first time that bad drivers on the initial launch killed performance.

Remember people drivers, especially for new generation, can kill performance.

Not to mention, we could be reach a lower return in performance with increased specs since they have been using this type of architecture since 2900xt.

11 inches is monstrous those. How are they gonna make a x2 version?

Nah, AMD isn't that desperate to launch the card with bad drivers.

killing performance? what do you mean, drivers can only give a boost of 3-4%, 10% at least? More I don'think it is possible.....

    Really?

Don't you remember how utterly useless GTX280 was at launch, and how it managed to give negative scaling in SLI many times Was fixed later with proper drivers

Multi gpu performance are different than single gpu performance.....gtx280 was going fast at lanch and with nvida drvier had a good boost, but unfortunately nvida is better in releasing driver than ati, as we can see from the past generation

ok so the card is pretty much only a tiny bit bigger then a 4870 maybe 1cm/2cm more (compare pics online in paint scale them so the pcie slots roughly the same size to get an idea)

Seriously, what makes it "look sweet"? The fact that it looks to have a red zipper between two pieces of plastic and a fan that looks starved for fresh air?

I think it looks cool, I like the design. It reminds me of a fastback
I also liked the 4870x2 cooler, and the 8800ultra cooler. What's your take on it?

25-40% meets the leaked p21k on Vantage, so i think this is possible.
