Realistically, I think you've got this backward. There is a lot of room for people who strongly prefer ATI hardware without diving into descriptions of delusional fanaticism. The truth is, ATI hardware is generally in the same ballpark. It would have to smash nVidia performance by an absolutely insane margin before many people would consider it on an equal footing. We see the same thing happen between the parties debating the merits of AMD and Intel processors.
When it comes to changing established perceptions, equality just isn't enough.
Some people don't seem bothered by this problem and recognize ATI for what it is. It's a competitive hardware house who during this last generation provided a much better bargain. I see no evil in that.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

nvidia, ati, i dont care, someone give me some new damn hardware, im sick of 4800 and gtx 200 series cards!!!!!!!!!!!!! first one out the gate has me as a customer!
Let's just all agree that the 5800 Ultra was the most obnoxious card ever and move on with our lives.![]()

or refuses to beleive anything ATI rumour related, no matter how realistic but when a rumour of nvidia having a card that has 4ghz gpu, 12ghz shader and 10000000ghz ddr188 ram and pulling 0.0001w at full load they beleive it instantly with the line "zomg this will send ati to the grave" etc etc
Speaking as an nVidia fanboy, I think that ATi are going to release not only competitive cards this time around, but cards which in a fair few titles (arguably AAA Titles) ATi will have the performance Crown (and this is without even considering their MultiGPU Solution...which is bound to be epic).
My reason for this prediction is that for years ever since the ATi Radeon 8500 ATi has dabbled with Hardware Tessellation Technology...it's not until now that it really is going to take off, I think ATi's hard work and effort in this area will pay off in dividends.
The only area I can see nVidia beating ATi would be in games that use Hardware Physics (DirectX Compute, Physx, OpenCL et al ), this I can see being ATi's only flaw as nVidia have the edge here and have been making positive noises, ATi on the other hand have decided to wrap OpenCL to their AMD processor division....does make you wonder whether the ATi GPU's do not excel here.
I am looking forward to seeing the reviews... who knows I might even decide NOT to get a GT300, but instead go for a Radeon 5870!

woot there it is:
btw, new rumor is:
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.p...postcount=2326pretty high on the P Vantage.
4x5870 = 60k
1x5870 = 21k with the cpu running at default.
I think this is a 3d06 score, to be honest![]()

there are many large differences between ati and nvidia, first and formost being their style of building gpus!
there are advantages and disadvantages for owning a card from each brand, it all depends on what you use your rig for and what games you play. these arguements stating "zomg ati pwns nv again!!11!!1!!11!" or visa versa are silly, it's up to each one of us to look at the data and decide where to spend our hard-earned greenbacks. we don't know the specs for either camp, we don't know the performance, we don't know the cost. i'm down for some tin-foil-hat speculation, but these statements about there being ONE AND ONLY ONE good gfx company are useless.

Am disappointed , would think they would find hotter girls to present the card , at least ATI marketing department looking in the right direction now .With 2 days left no rumors really matter, we going to know it soon .

Well I hope they stick with the black instead of the read caseing atleast and maybe keep the memory/ vrms full cover heatsink as that was good to re use with better coolers that have 2 fans to keep all parts of the card from getting to toasty.
