$299 may be the 5850 price rather than the 5870 price but knowing ATi they will price a similar performance part slightly lower than the equivalent NV. ATi don't have to cover the costs of CUDA, PhysX, 3DVision & "The Way it's Meant to be Played" which is why you still pay a premium for NV parts.

Performance wise if 5870/Cypress is equivalent to GTX295, how will Crossfire(X) performance compare with Quad-SLi and Tri-Sli GT200?

Will reference parts in CrossfireX be feasible in boards without a spare slot between the cards?

And most importantly, when will I be able to get my hands on one?
