OMG Where??!!?!?! I am dying here in Canada. I need one for my new build. I was considering the 120GB vertex because they have a pretty sweet sale on one. $330 CAD after MIR.

NCIX also has a good sale on the Agility, 120GB for $300 after MIR.

    Decisions decisions...

According to Anand, G2's don't deal w/ 'fragmentation' as well as the G1's currently. Hopefully/likely because Intel is planning on releasing an updated firmware in the near future.

Although not sluggish, basically the same thing happened to me when my X25-M 80GB G1 was over 80% full. After I deleted some stuff the speed came back. You can read about it below:

Got a few PMs people asking me where I got it. You gotta have a friend who owns a small retail hardware business. Intel helps out the small business guys A LOT so if an owner asks his Intel sales rep very nicely for a product, they will usually sell it to him even if there is no stock all around. They have extra stock reserved for this sort of thing that doesn't go to major retailers like newegg.

That is how I got mine. A have several friends who own retail outlets and one of them got it for me. I always get my hardware way cheaper than the normal prices too . I will have it in a few hours. Next day shipping FTW.

    Connections are everything.

Wow! newegg are really screwing over their customers it seems.
Got my 80gig G2 for £171 delivered from scan.co.uk (Free shipping due to previous cancellation) Things like this are normally allot more expensive over here as well!
    Are you Intel's Btch?

Yeah something is seriously wrong. We get stock in the UK before the USA and it's cheaper. Guess there is a first for everything.

Edit: I believe new egg etc optimise price based on supply and demand with all kinds of clever software running in the background. Looks like they have taken it way to far though. That kind of greed leaves a bad taste.

Turn caching on through the storage manager if you want that useless program to draw you a prettier graph.

Your ssd seams to be degraded, I had the same problem with a brand new supertalent too. Use hdderase 3.3 to wipe out your disk and you should get better results.

Here's my HDTune (ICH10) with 3 cheap Super Talent out of eBay for $60 each:

I hate this. I don't have a computer right now besides my laptop and I've been waiting for 2 weeks to get this drive. This is rediculous.

Ran a few tests of my two X25Es in R0 versus this 160 single drive. COD4 launches instantly on my es and seems to hang 0.5s-1s before launching on the M. Once in game, there is no difference. L4D is the same idea. Getting into the game the first time seems a bit quicker on the Es. If I wanted to start a server however, the load time is once again identical. Also tried heroes of newerth beta and there was no different in anything between the two setups.

The 40app launch test finishes in 9.5sec on the Es and 10.6sec on the M.

So basically, the M is 95% as fast as a 2 x25-e raid 0 array. And that is with a 4.5ghz cpu.

Wouldn't the fact that they are raid'ed cause that 5% increase?

    Done some testing now with 64k and 128 stripesize , with default win7 install and ICH10R . RAID0 with 2 160gb intel SSD G2 .

    this is 128k
64k was a bit faster in certain tests , but in others it was slower .

all screenshots here , for the ones who are interested (hdtune , crystaldiskmark,win7 performance test) :

This may be a really stupid suggestion, but are you sure you're definitely using SATA II class cables? The SATA I cables don't go much faster than 150MB/s, which would add up to the 300MB/s you're seeing in RAID.

With the number of motherboards I've been through I have a real dolly mixture of SATA cables.
    Sorry if this is nonsense.

Edit: I think this IS nonsense :-). I was sure I'd read something about lower transfer speeds in SATA I cables on wiki but now I can't find it. Sorry, must be having a stroke. Does anyone else smell toast?
