SSD is not about max sequential single threaded performance alone;
SSD come into their own when you start throwing multiple things at it at the same time;
encode a movie, run a virusscan, copy data, and then load up a game/app. a RAID 0 HDD config will never decrease in access times, and that's where SSD come into their own; your system with the Intel SSD will remain responsive, while that Raptor 8xRAID0 setup will noticeably become sluggish
