I sense a lot of people here are waiting for E8700 or maybe E8700K (ie unlocked multiplier).

Combined with some *special* wafers with lots of TLC, it would certainly allow some interesting tests to see how high 45nm can go.

    here, E6500K 1m WR(not clk WR) , lol

and the max clk i've reached

this model available only in China, as a little weapon against AMD's 2cores break to 4cores, lol.
and the first batch (now on the market) box retail chip really sux , unlike the gem ES chip.
hope the next retail batch would be good for oc.

real volt. i even tried 2.24v in bios, but that's too hot and cpu dont like it

    to EVA,
Q912A408 (the only batch of ES, and seems less than 6pcs)
and strange thing is that .... coretemp = 15~20c higher when idle than load, haha.
    but still coldbug at -100c

    and air test:

    1.37v 4.55G prime

    1.5v 4.9G 3D06

    1.5v 5G 1m

Guys, by the previous experience, we know ES are usually selected to be overclockerd.
The retail version can't go that high.
    See here

that's BS. ES are not binned to be better OCers.
it's probably just a better batch
same thing as your retail batches...some are better than others thats all

it's been proved time and time again
eventually we will come across a retail batch which is far better than best ES chips

I have had a large number of ES Intel chips, the vast majority proved to be sub-par clockers vs. retail chips actually.

For the initial Conroes the ES chips did overclock much better in general.

However, with the 45nm Wolfdales, the ES chips overclocked much worse (or not as well) than retail (in general).

    not all man

only shortly after big ES wave and first retails we found the best Conroes

i had an E6700 that could bench 3D at 5.5GHz which was within the few weeks of first retails hehehehe in terms of batch# , i think loui from Canada had the same batch just as nice too

Oh yeah I remember all that e6600ES hype and then the retail USA chips were poor clockers and the better chips/superpis/prime95s/benches all went to Europe/Ausatralia/ and Asia - especially those "B" chips...
