Horror, I have suddenly gotten the dreaded bios code 8.7 problem

I have been running my system for about 2 years now without any problems, and then suddenly the other night when I went to turn on the system, it started displaying the 8.7 code.

I have tried resetting cmos/battery with no luck, as the system goes straight to code 8.7 when powered up, and then cuts the power.

My system consists of the following:

Abit IP35 Pro
Q6600 @ 3,6GHz
4 x 1Gb Crucial PC8500
BFG 8800GTS OC2

Has anyone ever solved a 8.7 problem without getting a new board? I'm thinking to try a new bios chip, which I can pick up on eBay for a reasonable amount.
