Sigh, please stop with this everyone.

And Talonman, though you take everything in stride, you're not quite innocent yourself. There are actual employees from certain companies that manage to post here on XS and remain respectful of their competitors. You are not an employee by your own admonition but still aren't able to remain even remotely neutral. You're only opening yourself up to attacks if you continue to post things like this:

    I agree...

That's why I find it best if I just dont post about ATI.

Matter of opinion, this will allways happend. And when one company dissapears , the weep for humanity starts all over again but "It was great when we had two competenting companies".
There will be allways threats / opinions in them like this.

If he sees it like that then fine, if he spreads it as a religion, followers will follow haters will throw rocks.
Anyways it's still just an opinion and since democracy still endures, accept it or leave it be.
He's not hurting nor limits anyone.

Being anti-ATI and pro-Nvidia are two diff things. Obviously the latter shouldn't bother anyone and he's given his reasoning for his opinion.

I realize fanboys are severely mentally challenged, but I'll say it anyway.

Anyone who holds favoritism towards one brand or another is just plain crazy. Quality, speed, and support > brand name.

I think Talonman believes that ATi's DX 11 implementation in their upcoming evergreen family cards would be bogus, or not "real", certainly not as real as what might come in nVidia's DX 11 solution that will come later on. So he thinks nVidia DX 11 implementation is the "right" one. That's the only logical way to explain his previous comment regarding his opinion that nVidia would be the first DX 11 card maker in the market.

You know, I might be the odd bird on this, but when I wanted to build my monster PC, I always considered the PSU, mobo, and CPU, just backing for the GPU I wanted to eventually run.

I think it was always more about the GPU(s) for me.

I didn't go cheep on my case (TJ09), MOBO, PSU, or CPU. I don't understand looking to save a few bucks on my GPU selection. I also know when you buy on, or near release day, you probably will be overpaying.

Do I like it, no, but do understand exactly what I am doing.

I am going to select my favorite GPU no matter if it's a couple hundred bucks one way or the other. I probably will have it for a while, and want to be happy with my selection the entire time.

I think if your looking to save some cash on your build, don't look at your GPU too close. Just get the one you want.

agree %100.... and nvidia is hassle free gaming out of the box, drivers not purfect but REALLY good.my buddy just sold his 4870x2 because of countless buggy driver issues.needless to say he grabbed a 295 and was plug and play ready to rock.

sad part is ati make better hardware on paper but have been lacking in the much needed driver support area.to many bugs not ironed out.who has time to wait for a driver fix to play there fav game??...i dont.im not a fanboy,i go with whoever is faster and MOSTLY bugfree drivers and at the past few years nvidia showed strong customer/gaming/driver needs met.

i was torn between 2 2890,s in xfire or single 295.i knew the 4890,s would probaly be way faster, but also possible buggy issues i was not willing to comprimise.read to many real ppl complaining of ati drivers threw the years..they all cant be complaining for no reason.

As an ex 8800 GT owner, and now currently HD 4870 user, ATi's drivers are always perfect while nVidia's ones are always troublesome for me. And i see people compaining about nVidia's drivers too everywhere .................. this is the best time to talk out of our collective a$$es it seems.

Once again, that driver issue is all variable. I've owned both ATi and Nvidia cards, but am currently on an ATi set up as you can see. I've honestly had no driver related problems with it, while when I had my 8800GTS, I had a boat load of problems. However, a friend of mine is having NO problems with his 9800GTX+. One thing I HAVE noticed though is a rash of people with cards in xfire or SLI having driver problems. Single GPU has been a much different story though. My personal method of GPU choice is getting the best performance in my price range, no matter it be Nvidia or ATi. To me, holding a preference to a certain brand is silly, especially when my money is involved, lol.

A driver doesnt mean you install and its done, people do more than just play video games with vide cards, try using adobe premiere, matrox rt x2, newtek vt5, the list goes on, more people in the professional industry prefer nvidia to ati, both are good but you gotta know there is more to drivers and hardware than playing games.

Can we be friends? I hope NVidia comes with a worthy opponent to ATI 5xxx so we all buy whatever brand we want and still be happy.

I just wish that the big green N was releasing their cards around the same time as ATi. I'm in need of a new card pretty quickly, and would like more of a choice.

You can have favoritism towards a brand if they have a good history of quality and reliable products with less real-world issues. Not so crazy, hey?

No, but it is crazy to stick your head in the dirt and let that conclusion be the one you die with. Same reasoning old people still bought a lot of shoddy car brands back in the 80s and 90s when they practically fell apart off the lot.

However to be fair, both Nvidia and ATI are taking a more of the same strategy it seems for the next gen. So, if you favoured one over the other its unlikely there will be any upsets to your opinion.
