Seems like you raised the B2B? what did you put it on? if not... maybe you can lower it..

personally see no point in goin ddr2000 with 15gb in read... i get almost 19 read and about 42ns with ddr1640 and CL7.

    B2B drastically reduced bandwith.

The point is I can go reverse and match your settings easily. This ram is versatile to go both ways. I can do 1600 6-7-6-20 1N or 1700 DDR3 7-7-7-20 1N 12 gigs(B2B & TREF on Auto) and paid almost half the price you paid. Very nice. - O N A I R =

    New D O Temp issue

    Hi all,
I finally got my new D O 920 and I have started the adventure all over again. I also flashed the latest BIOS.
The first thing is my Temps are higher than with my C O, Here is the shot of my first OC results. Temps with no load are average 5 degrees higher and under 100% load they get to over 80 degrees C. Here is what I have so far with no load. I am going to remove my CNPS 9900 and reseat it to see if that helps. I will send the BIOS pics in the next post. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
    Thanks, as always.

Here are the pertinant BIOS screens. I have not fine tuned yet but the temps with these settings and at 100% load are way too high. It is either something in my settings that is way off or I need better cooling, or both.
Any suggestions will be greatly apreiceated.

Bear, is there any reason going 21x instead of 20x? I have a C0 and I use 200 x 20 to get 4.0ghz, just like the rest of the crowd, and the mobo have no problem handling that baseclock. And do the 4 ICH/IOH voltage do? I leave mine on auto.

Thanks, no real reason excepty that with the C O I was able to get better results using these settings. I will try the 20 X. Do you think that it will help my Temps however? I know I am far from optimized but the high temps kind of stoped me trying to push things further.
I would rather stay with air even if I can not get as high an OC but....

I have 1054, so far so good. I don't have raid though. But planning one from SSDs as soon as W7 is released.

    1504 seems good,
I would just set your RAM timings and vdimm, (qpi if needed, lower latencies seem to want plenty of this is some cases) and make sure its all stable, then setup the RAID array.

Are you RAIDing your SSDs or the 1TB drives?

Was going to try to put the ssd's in raid,is there any problems doing this?
Have been reading over at the OCZ forum their install faq and was going to try that.

No it should be fine, if you have been reading on OCZ forums then you will prolly know about the new firmware for the vertex.

I would update the drives now and they should run great.

I have one in my laptop and i have had no issues with it on ICH8M and when i was testing it on the R2E (ICH10R) it was nice and snappy.

If you have Win7 then that might make another good choice with them.

I have found mine to be a very stable and reliable board, even when stressed.

I did on my last chip so I just started out using what worked before. I think you have a good point. When I get home later I will drop the voltage and see if that helps.

It was a CO. So the CO requires higher voltage?
I droped the voltage to 1.3 and the temps came down a few degrees. I am now going to drop it further and play with the multi Etc.

OK, the voltage reduction did help, Thanks for the suggestion. Here are my results so far:
No new cooler yet but I have made some progress by lowering the CPU voltage. Aparently my DO step does not need as much voltage to remain stable as my CO and it runs hotter with equal voltage. Let me give you some numbers. These are with no load but OCed to 3.6

Volts Core 1 Temp Core 2 Temp Core 3 Temp Core 4 Temp
    1.35 ........ 51 ........ 48 ........ 48 ........ 49
    1.28 ........ 48 ........ 46 ........ 48 ........ 43
    1.25 ........ 45 ........ 44 ........ 46........ 40
    1.23 ........ 45 ........ 43 ........ 45 ........ 39
    1.21 ........ 43 ........ 41 ........ 44 ........ 38

I ran a quick 10 min of Prime 95 with each of them and the temps droped there also. At 1.21 however my OC failed so I then want back to 1.22.
    At 100% load my temps at 1.22V were 66 64 68 60
So, all in all progress on the temp front. This DO does act differently than my CO. I am going to get a tower cooler over the weekend and see if that drops the temps a few more degrees. In the meantime it is my goal to get to 3.8 to 4.0 stable on air. I have a lot more to learn and more tweaking to do.
