    GT300 new leaks?

    1. GDDR5 memory

    2.use 512-bit memory bus

    3. To provide 280 GB / sec bandwidth of about (higher than RV870)

    4. GM is now calculated to be 2.2 times higher than the GT200

    5.1700MHz frequency shader

    Bold guess 6.die size

Well, seems like some new info about GT300.
2.2X faster than GTX280? If true that would be an another great GPU from NVIDIA I wonder if there will be some major architecture improvements and changes too.

    Regards

I wonder how they came about that 2.2x figure? Peak throughput?

512 bits memory bus? That means it will be expensive...

And if the claims that it's faster than the RV870 are true, then we will have another gen with slower but cheaper ATI cards against faster but more expensive Nvidia cards...

Hit the nail on the head, it is fun seeing people go crazy in hope of ATI finally breaking the status quo though. All known hints scream more of the same from both teams. Every time half the forums scream that ATI is going to blow up the performance crown, and every time Nvidia nips back the crown.

sorry I couldn't resist, although I'm semi-serious... it's about time that the hardware keeps up with the software.

I keep wondering if I should let my 295 go, and get ready for a 300...

I know it's new new architecture, MIMD, could be driver issues... ??

Would it be as fast as a 295... DX11 would be sweet...

    Decisions, decisions.

I do like my 295 so far.

See that is where I am stuck. I dont know if I should buy a 295 now or wait a bit longer LOL

I am so far just waiting cause if the 300s dont impress then I will just go 295 and hopefully they will drop in price a bit too.

I haven't forgot that price drop thing myself, and am in no hurry to unload my 295.

I wonder too if they might make an Ultra model, or an aftermarket 300 with more RAM or better cooling...

    Ya never know.

It's going to be hard to sit back and just read the reviews, but I probably wont be buying a 300 right off the bat.

I could go the other way if the wind blew hard enough.

I did like my 280 way more than my 9800 GX2, but then again, the 295 is no GX2. (Way better.)

2.2x figure would prolly be the theoretical throughput which certainly differs from the practical gain, maybe 70~90% even.

Anyway any1 else besides me have a strong feeling of history repeating like GT200 vs RV770, except I think nvidia will have slightly faster cards than last time.

September, HD 5870 for $299 (and HD 5850 for $199?) is launched that provides 30~50% gain over HD 4890 and will be the fastest single gpu card, may lead to slight price adjustments of other cards for especially nvidia but maybe also ati. Relatively energy efficient cards with great performance/power/cost factor.

Early/mid December, NVIDIA launches the new GT300 single gpu monster with huge power consumption but will have like 70~90% gain over GTX285 but at a price of $599~650. But very few cards will be in stock but hey Santa needs to get a few cards for xmas so the kids won't cry. Real stockage will grow in January. At same time ATI releases HD 5870 X2 to give the new GT300 single gpu card a run for it's money @ $499. This will eventually lead to some price reduction for nvidia and eventually release the dual gpu solution to more specificly point out the so called "performance crown" as they used to talk about a few years ago (yay). ATI then releases quite shortly after (maybe half year after GT300 launch or so) a refresh series with higher clocks with a bit higher performance and some tweaks due to the prices of HD58xx series have become so low at this point and to remain more competitive again (although HD 58xx series have sold well anyway) as ATI knows this is the pricerange were most money is spent.

Just for the luls, have to remember this statement if it actually would turn true. :p

Why do I think a similiar scenario will happen? Because both parts seems to be happy like this when they don't fight each other, they stick to different segments so both parts will get sales, playing safe. Of course this doesn't mean it would be less competition, it would look silly if ATI suddenly would match NVIDIA in performance at a totally different price segments (NVIDIA has beefier cards meant to be sold at a higher price cuz of the higher cost). It's a lot smaller chance of complete disaster this way than directly competing against each other in the entire price segment.

GTX 280 SLI can't beat 4870 X2 on some games, but how can GTX300 beat HD5000 x2? They're throwing some bomb here.

Actually, i dont think your statement is true, ive had both setups, gtx 280 will beat the 4870x2 in any game.

how can you ask that question when we don't even have final specs for the chips, let alone benchmarks.

RPGWiZaRD, you hit the nail on the head, for the most part. it looks to me like the duel gpu part has become the standard high-end card for both camps, and they will both have them ready at launch or VERY soon there after. we'll get a mid-year performance boost and die shrink as always, then *que the dramatic music* ..... LARRABEE. larrabee is the wild card....

Meh. Larrabee is begining to look more and more like a giant write-off/Research project. Intel is chasing the fastest moving target in the industry (that's what happens when you only have two companies that are locked in a life-or-death cycle). My guess is Larabee will eventually see the light of day in a next-gen intel design with heterogenius cores, and the more it gets pushed back the less of a chance that it'll be able to compete against ATI and NVIDIA. I could be totally off though.
