I couldn't care less about mixing cards. I want to see how close they come to linear scaling when using a same gpu sli or x-fire config.
Holy mother of motherboards. I don't think anyone expected this!
I remember threads about it all of the internet, and everyone was just brushing away at it, saying its only a paper product. Its fantastic to see it here.
But why MSI?
I'd really like to see that article, I haven't heard of any of that. The last info we all heard was that it was some sort of API arbiter to load balance GPU's and that ATI and NVIDIA mixing was NOT possible, but only because Window's doesn't allow multiple video driver's, not a limitation of the chip.
Looks like this one will allow the use of 2 different NVIDIA based cards like the 9800 series and the 200 series as the chip is stated as being the replasement for the nf200. The move to this chip may possibly be because NVIDIAs move away from motherboard chipset development so production of the nf200 may be headed to discontinued status. The Lucid will work in the same manner allowing the SLI of like gpus as well as that of gpus of difference constuction. This also continues to allow Intel to have SLI support with their chipsets while not having to rely on NVIDIA for supporting chip to allow 3way + SLI.
The use of ATI and NVIDIA video together I think is still some time away because as stated in earlier post, driver developement is always lagging for software/os support. The use of this chip along with ati and nvidia gpus would result in having to use 3 seperate drivers to allow for channeling through chip for each occupied pcie channel. In time I see Lucid possible developing drivers that will support both that will also have the driver for the Lucid chip implemented into the drivers. This way they could handle all 3 platforms with 1 set of drivers. This development tho is still quite some time away I'm sure. So the use of the chip for an individual gpu platform (ie nvidia with nvidia or ati with ati) would be more the case of use at this point in time.
by the beard of zeus! suddenly the lga1156 platform looks more appealing....
why with P55 and why did it take so long?

No matter where you go, there you are.
I don't understand the excitement about this. I don't mean Hydra itself, but mixing ATI with nVIDIA. It sounds cool, yes, maybe also is, but I don't expect better performance or reliability than Xfire or SLi. Hydra true potential and use are elsewhere. Mixing ATI w/ nVIDIA should be made like NN said, through drivers but that, I guess, is a piece of Utopia
To the MSI mobo itself:
First all-solid caps mobos, now this ..... next will be golden caps?

If the Hydra Engine works as advertised, both Crossfire and SLI are useless in these boards.
Damn.. This came a lot faster than I thought.
I just hope a 790GX version is released, so I don't have to change CPU also. I even wonder if an IGP could lift the overall performance, even if just a little bit.
Mojo stands for Compute Power!
No need for powerfull CPUs or GPUs anymore. All you need is Mojo!
Wow, didn't expect this to happen. This will be interesting if the board hits the market.

Not to happy buying israelian products, here in northern europe we try to boycott Israeli products as much as possible. The Palestinian people are experiencing their 42nd year of military occupation.

Perhaps they should have accepted statehood in one of the many opportunities they had since their first chance on May 14, 1948. Oh yeah... they decided it better to try to wipe out the Jews with the help of the neighboring Arab states on multiple occasions, which put them exactly where they are today.
Oh. And FYI.... Intel's Centrino technology was developed 100% by Israel in their Intel R&D facility in Haifa.

Aw ain't it cute... there is a love child afterall from that one year stand between nvidia and ati. Now I wonder what the mascot for this lucid affair (lol couldn't resist) will look like:-) Will it be a red headed freckled asian girl or... wait a minute there are a several mascots for nvidia hehe so maybe it will have a spanish accent from whatshername, adrianne? LMAO!
Yeah see what I'm getting at is that ati and nvidia are either gonna get the urge to merge soon or they simply flat out refuse to directly license their technologies to each other so some smart jewish business people decided to intervene and make a deal (yeah I'm somewhat jewish myself) and now we have this new chip.
Why on the p55 and not something else? Because there may be something much better but it will certainly cost a lot more and if thats all there is, the something that cost more you will lose some market share to those that can't afford it so here comes a mid to slightly upper range product that allows sli/crossfire to work together at an affordable level and get some of that market share back. Not everyone can afford a huge 64bit super computer with 100gb of ram and most people are still using 32bit everything for popular things like gaming. Gaming the center of high end video card sales, this will increase sales of lower to mid range video cards too btw.
I don't like this whole deal though because it lends to my suspicions about atvidia lol and those can only end at some point in monopoly and higher prices.
As diverse as this place is I think we would all appreciate it if the comments about one ism or another are left out. I don't like communism or socialism because I'm a capitalist but I'm not going to gripe about it around here because this is a tech site not an ism site. I'm sure some communists or socialists around here don't want to hear about capitalism either, negativity goes both ways so can we just stick to tech?
This technology will simply make SLI and Crossfire WORK CORRECTLY! Let Hydra figure it out and give the driver teams from Red and Green a rest. HOORAY! BANZAI! HELLZ YES! When will we see these on AMD mobos? Or did that massive Intel capital investment in Lucid mean no love for AMD?
i'm kind of confused.. how come other companies like, ASUS and gigabyte don't have this on their boards?
or is this MSI only?. . . maybe they're trying to finally get someone to buy their motherboards.![]()

Well guess what? First, the actions of the Palestinians put them in that position. And second, if you don't like a particular product because of a racial reason, then gtfo of this thread.
Guess you guys don't have many Intel products/creations/contributions up there like 802.11, netbooks, nor x86 cpus?![]()

C'mon guys, if this turns into a political debate you know they'll lock it.
That's bad for all of us!!!
