SteveRo: maybe you could setup 4xMtrons in R0 and do a similar .bat file, Napalm did, with lots of apps you have at your disposal and time that on ich10 and areca.
Also timing any software being installet from a .iso image on the array should also be indicative of its real time performances.
If you have the time, making a >2GB folder with songs and pictures and coping it on the array should give us real life R/W performance. Just make it bigger than you cache.
Coping the large video file like HD movie or something similar should give us results on how big files are being handled.

Same tests using lets say 3xacards would be interesting to!

Oh and those test you posted above... it looks to me that in AS SSD bench, where it measures iso, game and program times, ICH is continuously faster.
With that in mind doing the test I mentioned above should prove an interesting exercise.

    Thanks!

    You can use "FC-Test"...
This app writes files in realtime to your drive. (not like a bench)
    It simulates 5 scenarios.

Or you can scan a directory (game, progr etc.) to create a new, personal pattern. With this pattern you can simulate writes of the game/progr/anything.

Or you merge the content of the 5 included patterns to a big pattern (very easy). So you can write ~ 5.6GB of many very small and some big files at one go

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/sto...est.html#sect3

You can find the beta (i think the one and only from 2004) on russian sites.
Version 0.3 is from 2002. Ooooold!!! But good...

I'll give it a shot as soon as I stop killing motherboards and get a working PC (). Btw your COD4 loads in exactly the same time as mine in that last video. I am guessing it is because you ran out of ram?

I'm impressed. The initialisation time is not that bad either. I’d guess about a 1/4 to a 1/3rd of the time it takes an adaptec to initialise.

    - save as 40-app.bat

    - reboot pc

    - run 40-app.bat

    - time the loadup best you can

note: install ccleaner last and disable/delete* startup programs (you have just installed) @ Tools > Startup
    ex: avgnt.exe

    * dont disable/delete your video/sound/neccesary startup programs

this aint your fav one click benchmark gotta put a bit of time and effort into but itll give you a better/real indication where your system/storage is @.. no benchmark can do real apps

then move on up by adding more apps.. add more apps from your windows system folder.. as many as you want.. as many your system can chew

i gotta upload the file to a better site.. any suggestions?

It would be nice if there was a programe like Win bootup that works in the background and records how long apps/games take to load. I'm guessing this would not be an impossible task to do? Maybe it already exists? It would be a lot easier than copying files, creating bat files, stop watches etc?

    napalms awesomeness indictor.exe?

Awesome Napalm! Which Jmicron SLCs are you using exactly? (brand)
I'll be getting a few Intel G2's shortly, pretty interested in running that app loading bench of yours.

Init time of the Areca really isn't that bad, I counted roughly 21 seconds + 5s that you can cancel... My Adaptec 5405 takes 45s kernel init + 8 array init = 53s total.. that's why it went in the server lol.

Fastest init I know of are the Highpoints BTW, the 3510/3520 takes only 7-8s
