    Another new BIOS!!!

    Hi Guys,

i've just stumbled over a newer BIOS for our board. It's fresh but haven't tested it yet. It's from Biostars chinese site.
But beware!! My antivirus programm seems to find a worm on their site (Worm.Win32.FUJACK) - don't know if it is a real virus...
The message came up when i searched for the BIOS on their site

Here is the link to the Bios :
    http://www.biostar.cn/app/en-us/t-po...s.php?S_ID=360

Happy testing, hope it helps. Please give a feedback.

oh almost forgot it's from the 24.07.2009!!

can anyone confirm that you have to use the 4 pin molex connector while using xfire on this board... i dont really see the reason for it unless you were using 2 cards that didnt take the 6 or 8 pin pci-e power connectors but it just dosent make sense to connect both to me. i read it on a site somewhere when i googled how to get my xfire working, turns out i forgot the little black jumper XD

I always used it when it was my main rig, but that being said, the rule as I understand it is if your cards have power sources of their own then it's not needed. But the other rule was to think like a male.... if there is a hole.... PLUG IT!! ... LOL

    +1.

This new BIOS seems to be OK.
My FSBTV doesn't hang at [AUTO] anymore.
Haven't tried Xfire with this one yet.

ive noticed that there are now 5 rcomp configs instead of the previous 4 in the 710 bios. ive not done any overclocking yet with this bios but i plan on doing some very soon, i may even fire up the SS on it again

idk though, last time i had the SS on it somehow the bios chip got corrupted, after doing a quick ebay search ive found that you can purchase a new bios chip for just 12.49 + shipping so i may just do that before i do any extreme oc'ing with it.

    dumbest question on earth...

maybe I'm just an idiot, but I have no idea how to flash to that chinese beta 513 bios...I was using the tpower flashing utility because it's simple and easy and so far after several flashes it's worked properly but it doesn't even identify that bios...and it's been so long since I've NOT used a bios utility to flash I honestly can't remember the old school way to flash to a new bios...

What is your current overclock with the Q9550?? Im very curious due to the fact that very few people use quads with this board. I just installed my Q9550 with the newest bios and Im running 485x8.5. Can you post your overclock and template and we will compare. Thanks a lot man.

if your running 485x8.5 your at 4122.5ghz and your the man if it's stable...
i have yet to see anybody at that clock speed stable with this board...
i'm stable at 3915.93ghz at 460x8.5 i guess would see that on my cpu-z forum banner in my sig well here my bio screen of my voltage setting to reach 3.9 stable voltage was at [+0.100v] dropped down to [+0.075v]
    still stable

and the link to the intelburntest as well(Passed) at 3.9ghz

chad we can compare notes if you want to? let me know..I write mine down as you can see along side a truste calculator

I wasn't able to get my Q9550 EO stable above 4GHz on this board either.

So, I swapped the quad to GA-EP45-UD3P(4.5Ghz) and my E8500 EO to the I45(555.66x9/5GHz)...both on water.

Gonna flash to this newer BIOS as I have a DICE run planned for my E6500K, headed over from Guangzhou.

does the new bios help the i45 handle quads better? i might end up getting this board and i have a q9650, but i want to have a E8400 or E8500 instead since the quad is overkill for my needs.

I'm also wondering about how this board does with Quads, I've heard some great things and some not so great things. I want to put a Q9550 in my machine but I am worried it won't clock worth a damn.

The problem with quads is not the bios, it is because of powering up the CPU - TPower has only 4 rails for that.

that was'nt my issue it saids in the Biostar web site any plans of updating to a Quad Core cpu they quoted you to update your bios
and that's what..I did to make it work right for power..I had plenty enough Power for all my systems my problem was throttle control
with the c1e & eist functions locked on enabled in the bios so it kept the cpu at x6.0 could'en lock it on x8.5 problem fixed now...

    Thank you!

2A is the checkpoint Description to the point of the problem

Reset, Detect, and Disable (function 0); Static Device Initialization (function 1); Boot Output Device Initialization (function 2). Function 0 disables all device nodes, PCI devices, and PnP ISA cards. It also assigns PCI bus numbers. Function 1 initializes all static devices that include manual configured onboard peripherals, memory and I/O decode windows in PCI-PCI bridges, and noncompliant PCI devices. Static resources are also reserved. Function 2 searches for and initializes any PnP, PCI, or AGP video devices.

no it does not,its all about cpu phase power.and this board does amazing with duals but not quads.my buddy had his qx9650 on this mobo at 4.1 but very flakey.swapped to e8600 and now at 4.2+ 24/7.i myself am at 4.1 ghz 24/7.qauds run good on this board at 3.6 24/7 anymore than that is pushing it.

Found a new one again: http://www.biostar.cn/upload/Bios/P45AA902.BFP.rar (Boot Display Over Clock Fail - solve the problem)
    I'll test it tonight.
