OK. This radiator is big.. but what fans it can take? I mean what 140mm fans do you guys know ?

I just got reply from Noctua about their 140mm fan NF-P14 - it will be available Q4-09/Q1-2010..
However look on photo.. it will be round fan, with 120mm screw holes... so don't think it would be ok for 140mm radiators....

Yeah, those Noctua fans will have the same problem as the Scythe 140mm fans = 120mm hole spacing so it won't work on 140mm rads. The only 1400m rad I can think of it would work on is the TFC Monsta because its shroud has holes for both 140mm and 120mm fans.

Well, I wrote about them, they tested prototype one, shorter version.

I'm just wondering how much better it is compared to regular 3x120.
Would it be similar to 4x120?

140.3 is better than 4 x 120 ---> more surface area on the 140.3 and the fan blade area to motor hub area ratio on 140mm fans is greater by a large amount .
120.3 = 43,200 mm^2
120.4 = 57,600 mm^2
140.3 = 58,800 mm^2

120mm fans is 6.09:1 fan blade area to motor hub area ratio
140mm fans is 8.64:1 fan blade area to motor hub area ratio

then by calculation of fan blade area ((Pi*fanradius^2)-(pi*hubradius^2))*#fans) we can say utilized area.

120.3 = 29,127 mm^2
120.4 = 38,837 mm^2
140.3 = 41,373 mm^2


therefore PA140.3 is ~6% better than PA120.4 @ equal fan speed and design on each (120mm yate loon and 140mm yate loon for instance)

I am quite sure one of the part manufacturers on this board could whip up a quick adapter that would allow those Noctua fans to fit 140mm fan screw spacing... at the same time, their bracket could seal off the remaining area the fan doesn't cover, so all of the fan's air is directed into the radiator. This would also be nice in a shroud format.

I actually thought about it few days ago, that would be a great idea, using your favourite 120mm fans and having that bracket as shroud!..

Agree. It is easier to fit wide rad, rather than long.
I dunno how I've calculated height but I hoped that I will have enough room for one hdd cage with 140.3 in P80 now I see that I have place only for dvd or fan controller and I am glad - with 120.4 I wouldn't have even this
