X2 550 Unlocking & Overclocking Consolidated

On a mugen 2 (applied with ocz freeze) with stock fan, I run my x2 550 at 4ghz with 1.505v and the under load it goes up to about 48 degrees. When I unlock it and run about 1.4v it is close to the same temperature.

On an unrelated note, does anyone notice these cpus have a weak IMC, or did I just get an unlucky one? It won't run 1600mhz no matter what I try, even as dual or quad.

How do you read your temps once you unlock it? On my 790X UD4P, unlocking my 550 renders the temp sensor inoperative. I suppose this may not be the case with all boards though.....

Another question. Shouldn't unlocking two additional cores add a considerable amount more heat? I find it suspect that the temp remains the same.

BTW, how do you like the mugen 2? I am thinking about picking one up!


EDIT: I just read the part where you say you run 1.4V when unlocked. sorry! That makes more sense now. thanks for the info!
