oh man
i dont feel like sticking a CPU in my board to even practice
these boards sound like they are dying left right and centre![]()
Don't use X58 Pro and other cheap models for overclocking, PWM just isn't strong enough. Only Eclipse SLI is meant for extreme-overclocking and it actually worked pretty well in MOA 2009 EU Finals. Best MSI mobo I've tested so far.. and I've reviewed maybe 30 of them :P

I think i can prolong my Beijing stay for a week, and we can arrange some Trip to Great Wall (drinking, shopping HW, exploring Great China) and another funny events together with another guys from here ...
Well.. US MOA Finals is now over. Best of luck to everyone that made it to phase II. Sound like we all had problems trying to get a final score up.
My boards (Eclipse Plus and Eclips) did very weird things.. it would post one min.. then when I reboot.. it woudl turn on.. and no post Very frustrating trying to swap parts between board with a frozen GPU, CPU and pots.
Mike - the chipset is ALWAYS hot on these MSI x58 mobo, you always have to keep a fan on the chipset to keep temps in line.

does anyone have a link to a scoreboard or something, so we all can see who won for the USA?![]()

Hey Me4me,
I don't think the US Scores will be up till the end of the week. I think SEA ended on 7/31, but their results won't be up till 8/5 (http://www.oc-arena.com/SEA/rules.html).
Since US ended on 8/2, i figure our results be up by 8/7.

i got an eclipse board which would probably fall into the bad contact type heh
i think it may have been a demo/press sample board or something cause of the packaging, also 3xplastic clips broke off that hold the IOH and that smaller heatsink in place but i dont care about that...my point i am actually making is that the heatsinks were making poor contact with some really weird red paste. The paste was rock hard (assuming it was a paste at some point lol). i tried to slowly scrape it off the heatsinks and will have to sand them a bit as there are a few minor marks from blades
the heatsinks made about 20% contact with the chips. i dont know if this is just this board but maybe some more attention needs to be paid to this if this is more common particularly if they run hotter on average. i havent tried it yet but hopefully nothing else was damaged with that heatsink banging on the board in transport.

Unfortunately yes - didn't find out about this till a few hours before the end of Phase 2, fortunately I had a bit of LN2 left to join the party with my W3570....
But have to say was shocked when I saw the SEA results - was a bit worried that they ran single card as well...
great to hear that the Eclipse was doing well at the EU finals! BTW looking forward getting to meeting you again - shall be a fun event!
Congrats to Fugger and TITON, will be fun to battle you guys again soon.
Of course congrats to all the rest of the participants, here in the US, as well all over the rest of the overclocking world. Shall be a fun benchfest!
PS
Hopefully I can get Gautam to be my 'mate, miss him telling me over and over again to: " give more vcore....vcore...."
