    Does a low vid make much difference guys? i remember with my old q6600 (1.2750vid) at 3.6ghz it ran in the mid 50's after being lapped, and a pair of 2000rpm fans on a lapped TRUE black, @3.8ghz it was loading at 68-68-62-62. My current q9550 isnt lapped unlike my TRUE, i currently run 2 sharkoon 400-1200 rpm pwm fans on the TRUE, temps at load are 54-50-46-46, not to bad, but im thinking of replacing the fans on the TRUE for a pair of full blown 2000 rpm sharkoon silent eagle 3 pin fans to try and drop the temps, im undecided about lapping this current q9550, but with the cooler being lapped i think the cpu ihs is a bit detrimental to the overall set up.

    which test did you run in prime95?? Small, large or blend?
    The default OCCT test its more like the blend test in prime95.
    I think your freezes are related to mch or vtt voltages

    custom, min : 8kb max : 8kb. I've run a OCCT (large data set) to check the memory, but it freezes. I set my CPU at 3.3GHz again, but still freezing, whereas it succeeded for 2h30 with lower voltages, but LLC disabled.

    Hey, have anyone got CPU, that limits FSB overclock by itself??? I cant find the other solution, this chips looks good, but it will not go past 450 FSB in Intel Birn Test.

    As far I could get with 1.7v PLL and 1.4 FSB was 455 FSB, at 460 it freezes somtimes during the test, I was using 150 loops of IBT (sometime freezes at 80 - 90 loop). Now Im at 450 x 8.5 that is 3825 Mhz, PLL at lowes 1.5v, but FSB still need to be 1.3v, NB to 1.55 with 4 x 2Gb memory @ 900 Mhz. This is with P35, Asus P5K-E, there was no problems with this board up to ~ 480 FSB before with Q6600. I have tried 1 dimm single memory and that gives nothing. No luck, even cant boot @ 470 with volts maxed ou, GTL tweak gives nothing.

    Is that the CPU limit? Its pretty good, as with IBT it needs only 1.216v under load to complete 50 loops of IBT at 3825 Mhz, I think this is realy good, but no more fsb, so no more mhz after all. Max load temp IBT is 52 on all cores, good watercooling.

    Its 1.275v VID chip L845B, +1 Ghz overclock with lover volts than VID

    Hey all.. ive noticed alot of people useing the easy tune6 to do there ocing. is it any better that way than going into the bios and doing it manualy that way? i know it saves on time shutting down and restarting... ive heard those OC tuneing programs that come with the mobo's arent all that reliable? should i rethink things and try easytune??

    i have always ASSumed one would be more likely to bork windows by changing o/c'ing settings in a windows environment. as such, i've never used et6 -- old-skool bios o/c'er here.

    @Kashelz

    you know all this time no body payed attention..I looked it up
    the SLAWQ,the C1 stepping was made first of the Q9550 model
    then the SLB8V,E0 stepping made last the lastest EO made are
    Q9550,Q9550S,Q9650

    Link
    http://processorfinder.intel.com/Lis...774&SearchKey=

    SLB9V is a IntelŪ PentiumŪ E5400 2.70 GHz R0 stepping,45 nm,800 MHz
    that last s-spec under 800mhx then came the SLGU9, 2.80 GHz, E6300
    Core 2,1066 MHz,45 nm,R0

    and the SL(A)9V is the E6750,G0 stepping, 65nm which..I have

    @Hu13caP

    if you get a Quad Core make sure it's a S-spec: SLB8V then you know 4
    sure it's EO stepping and..I believe the L846B715 is lastest batch made
    cause mine was packed by intel on 6/5/09 check your packing date
    on your box...

    read the codes FPO/Batch#

    Example: L707A723 ---

    0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
    1 = Cavite, Philippines
    3 = Costa Rica
    6 = Chandler, Arizona
    7 = Philippines
    8 = Leixlip, Ireland
    9 = Penang, Malaysia
    L = Malaysia
    Q = Malaysia
    R = Manila, Philippines
    Y = Leixlip, Ireland

    2nd digit = Year of production: (2007)

    3rd & 4th digits = week: (7th week )

    5th - 8th digits= lot number: (723)

    10th - 13th digits = serialization code (---)

    I tested my chip on another board and the FSB is still no more than 470 to post (reboots in BIOS) and also ~ 455 - 460 FSB max for 24/7, all I can say its good chip, but bad scaling with fsb, 450 fsb with 1.3v FSB voltage and 1.5v PLL, perfectly for 450 x 8.5 with 1.225v in BIOS for 150 loops of Intel burn test, but no more, and not the chip for me Wthis is with L845B.

    yes i also think my chip will go alot farther on a different board and better mem.
    i have it now at 3.83ghz. cpu is stable as all get out but hte mem is rocky. i set IBT at 1/4 of mem it passed fine. i set it up to 1/2 mem and only passed 4 out of 5 test. it is running OCCT on it now. has been for about 25 mins no problems but that dont mean anything with it failing IBT. temps didnt go above 64c so very pleased with the OCZ Vendetta 2 in its cooling. vcore is set in bios at 1.300v running right now in OCCT at 1.25v in C-Puz its at 1.21v

    and useing ET6 doesnt work for me on this board. i tried all kinds of setting on it and they went back to what i have set in bios.
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=624108

    when i have some more time tomorrow i will put in my mushkin mem and see what it will do. i think this chip will run 4.0+ easy on the right board and mem. just finding that is the issue for me..lmao

    actually running OCCT right now. highest temp is 64 on core0 lowest temp underload is 56 on core2.

    Someone in X48 Rampage thread reported a couple of L847C187's with VID of 1.3000 & 1.2625, respectively.

    Here's my data point. I have recently tested four E0 Q9550's. The first two L845B600 (VID = 1.2875) and L845B502 (VID = 1.2250) were disappointing. They both showed limited FSB potential regardless of the VID values.

    I had both boxes exchanged with the latest batch at my store - got two L847C212 back. Both have the same 07/10/2009 pack date. One has a 1.2250 VID the other 1.2375 VID. Their benching capability is obviously better than the L845B's. The 1.2250 vidder clocks nearly as good as my golden L835B078 (vid = 1.2000) and runs even cooler, while the 1.2375 vidder gets pretty close in clocks though it always runs 2-3 degrees (celcius) hotter.

    I think getting a golden batch at this late production stage (especially for Q9550) is quite the luck of the draw, though I'd say the C batch offers a better chance so far. But sorry folks, I'm broke so I don't have an UD3P to prove my point yet. So just take my comment with a grain of salt.

    Incidentally, the C batch chips have a screen code starting with "2L9" while the L845B chips have "N38". I guess that denotes the production lines (first two letters) with the year mark (3rd letter). IIRC, all the golden Q9650/Q9550/Q9550S samples I saw earlier have "358" codes below. And all the golden Q6600/QX6850 samples a while ago had "2L7" codes.
